Danbury High School Reviews
Rating 3.73 out of 5 760 reviews
There are ups and downs to the high school. There are places such as the bathrooms and staircases that need to be fixed, and having to worry about fights and vaping around the school is an issue. Teachers are sometimes understanding while others aren’t, and administrators don’t always take action like they should when kids have serious issues. After school activities such as marching band and robotics I see help kids adjust easier to the school when they come in.
Danbury High School is a very diverse school, spending four years here will surely prepare you for life beyond high school and give you a good sense of the diversity of the real world. This school could use more resources to prepare outgoing seniors for college. However, I am aware that DHS will be implementing a new readiness curriculum in the upcoming years which seems like a great step forward for our community and education.
Danbury High School is one of the poorly funded public schools in Connecticut. Yet the largest high school in the state with 3,600 students attending, so we truly need the funding. Nevertheless, you could have an unforgettable time in your classes with your teacher, or you get a teacher who comes every day for the paycheck. I had teachers who truly cared about the students and developed a deep connection with students, and keep coming back every year for the students, ignoring the horrible treatment by the school administrators. Then, the truly bad teachers and administrators, however, I won't define my school like this. My school is seen as notorious for being "ghetto" and "always fighting" but I feel it doesn't show what the school is. The school is very big, so it is frankly impossible to not have friends. There are so many clubs and sports people could join. There are so many diverse activities people could always attend. So I want to change the perspective of my school.
