About
Immerse yourself in Venice's Age of Decadence with a visit to this lavish palace of the Venetian aristocracy Rezzonico, which houses an unsurpassed collection of eighteenth-century Venetian art. The museum remains an outstanding example of period atmosphere and style. Its rooms not only contain works from one of the most flourishing eras of European art, but also recreate the pomp and splendour of an 18th-century Venetian residence. On display are masterpieces by Canaletto, Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, Rosalba Carriera, Pietro Longhi and Francesco Guardi.

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

    Must See
This is an absolute must-see when in Venice, right up there with St. Mark's. Absolutely beautiful 18th century palace, and there's an ACTV stop right next to it, so it's easy to cross the canal to visit. Lots of great English info in the many rooms. Would recommend over Ca d'Oro, Fenice, and possibly even the Doge's Palace.

Fascinating glimpse of late eighteenth century Venice
Wonderfully located on the Grand Canal and easy to access in spite of the closure of the bridge at the front of the site. This is not my preferred period of architecture but it is impressive with excellent interpretation allowing understanding of how rooms were used and how they were decorated. Highlights for me were not really parts of the palazzo itself but the historic pharmacy on the upper floor to the rear and easily missed and a marvellous collection of miniature paintings on ivory by a woman artist new to me. Her pictures were exquisite, highly detailed and deserved more time than I had allowed myself to view them. If tempted to view them take a magnifying glass with you, you will see so much more! Look too at the gondola on the ground floor entry, I hadn’t appreciated how curved they are!

Beautiful art right on the grand Canal
In an updated, modernized, Casa on the grand Canal, beautiful artwork by Italian greats such Tiepolo, Longhi, Canaletto, and Lazzarini are displayed. We enjoyed the exhibits which focused to a large extent on Venice itself. We can appreciate how prosperous the city was as a shipping center for the Mediterranean. We also enjoyed the café, which had seats right on the canal for reasonably priced snacks.

We made it just in time for the last admission at 4pm and had tickets included in the museum pass. There was no obvious place to buy tickets there so watch out for that. The building itself was quite beautiful if a little underwhelming. The staff weren’t great however. They were a little rude and didn’t make you feel welcome. I was told a few times that I was going the wrong way when there were people who had gone that way before myself. There were no obvious no entry signs. I would recommend the Doges palace instead.

This museo is a bit difficult to fin, but worth the effort. It is worth visiting for two fine Canalettos alone. (At a guess, they are early works and not one of the formulaic paintings he churned out later.) The building is impressive, not least for the ceilings by Tiepolo. The afternoon that I visited, there were about 10 people in the whole place.

The good thing about this place is that it’s so quiet. There were many times when it was just me and museum staff in a room!

The building is impressive and it was very pleasant wandering around the vast rooms admiring the decor and art.

I went because I had the museum pass, not sure I would otherwise (unless you want a calm break from all the tourists!)

The facilities are all a bit dated but it’s got everything you’d need (bathrooms, lockers etc.)

This beautiful 18th century Baroque palazzo is a stunning example of 18th century life in Venice! The exterior view of the palazzo from the Grand Canal is a must-see and is worth a turn on a vaporetto to view it. We strolled through the palazzo room by room, floor by floor, enjoying the art work and furnishings. Of special note is the ballroom and its ceiling fresco. Also the terrazzo flooring and a Murano glass chandelier. This palazzo was once owned by Pen Browning whose father Robert Browning the British poet died here in 1889; the American songwriter Cole Porter lived here for a year in the late 1920s.

Visited as part of the city pass. Would recommend for a morning as it gives an interesting look into the way a venetian merchant family would have lived. Benches in the garden make a good lunch spot.

Interesting paintings, well labelled and explained in several languages. Porcelain of many makes, furniture. Nice and cool when really hot outside. Has a lift to get you to all floors. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice cafe with friendly waiter.
Is directly at vaporetti stop of same name.
