Cop Land

Cop Land ★★★★½

I just love this movie. I could easily watch it again tomorrow. One of the all-time great cast ensembles with a fantastic understated and under-rated performance from Stallone, Liotta lighting up the screen on every appearance as coke-fuelled Figgsy, Keitel leading is band of crooked cops (and Sopranos cast) with Robert Patrick a particular highlight and DeNiro putting in a perfect supporting role as the authoritative IA agent Moe Tilden. Look out for short cameos from Debbie Harry and Method Man too but I could go on here mentioning every cast member, they’re so good. A gripping crime drama with an excellent score throughout but the use of sound (or lack of) in the closing scenes is an excellent choice from Mangold (on only his 2nd film at the time).   One of my favourites.
