Sandhurst Cup: UK teams complete international military skills competition
Two Army officer cadet teams from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) have completed an international military skills competition in the United States.
Forty-eight squads from around the world took part in the Sandhurst Cup at US Military Academy West Point in New York State.
The two-day competition involved gruelling events such as marksmanship, navigation, obstacle courses and medical exercises.
The competition has undergone multiple changes since it started in 1967.
Two teams from Sandhurst were made up of 11 people, with the UK military academy having a Red and a Blue Team.
After fighting through the two days of obstacles, hauling their minimum 15kg bags for approximately 30 miles, one team was crowned the Sandhurst champion.
The winner was decided based on performance at each of the obstacles as well as the speed with which theΒ competitors completed them.
A team from the US won the overall event, with the UK's Blue team finishing 35th and the Red team finishing 14th.
RMA Sandhurst teams coach, Captain TJ Eddy, told Forces News it was "a real tough competition to show up here".
He added: "They (Red team) were all finished 14th which is absolutely impressive given the amount of training that they had to compete here.
"I cannot be more proud of the team and all the hard work they have done."
