70% Tomatometer 37 Reviews 66% Audience Score 50+ Ratings Once athletic, popular and on the way to success, Ray Drecker's life turns upside down: He's an underpaid, unappreciated middle-age high-school teacher and basketball coach whose wife of 20 years just left him, and his twin children soon follow her out the door after a fire damages his rundown Detroit home. Grasping at straws, Ray attends a self-help class, where he learns the key to financial success is identifying a personal "winning tool," advice that Ray takes quite literally, in hope of turning things around. Critics Consensus

Hung admirably uses sex as a springboard into deeper stories and more complex themes -- although its reach is occasionally beyond its grasp.

Joshua Alston Newsweek Hung boasts an intriguing premise for a series, but so far it's burnt around the edges and raw in the center, neither as funny nor as serious as it should be. Who knows, though? It could be a grower. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Joanne Ostrow Denver Post While HBO struggles to find its next signature series to succeed The Sopranos, this hour will do nicely. Hung may not have the staying power of that mob drama, but it is similarly intent on ferreting out uncomfortable truths about a changing society. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review James Poniewozik TIME Magazine I loved the first half of the extended pilot, was left cold and under-impressed after two episodes, but by the end of the fourth, was really drawn in to its dark-comic, dead-timely vision of the American economy and the American spirit. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Michael Abernethy PopMatters This scenario is stale, even if it's granted a certain topicality by the current recession... The problem is, the jokes are less than funny and the drama isn't engaging. Rated: 4/10 Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Matt Paproth PopMatters Played by Thomas Jane and Jane Adams, Ray and Tanya are a hilarious pair, filled with a world-weariness that I found refreshing and largely believable. Their performances were wonderful. Nov 20, 2018 Full Review Latoya Peterson The Muse/Jezebel In these trying times, with this sh---y economy, when everyone feels like Sisyphus, it's comforting to see a guy who has been reduced down to his genitalia look the world in the eye each Sunday and start muttering under his breath. Brittany H This show is so funny. Great story line, great acting, keeps me engaged. My ONLY complaint is the MFC Tanya. She is SO annoying. She's ungodly clingy and reminds me of those people who think they are just above everybody. Very annoying character. Great acting though because I can't stand her. Very sad that this show was cancelled. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review Sonny Z I gotta tell ya…I thought this series was just fantastic. The dichotomy between Ray and Jessica the most popular kids in school and the weirdo kids is just perfectly ironic. They don't know how to deal with children that they themselves would not have hung out with. I love how disheveled and scattered Tonya is. I love how polished and confident Lenoire is. I think the show was original, funny and intriguing. I read people's reviews here on TV Shows and movies and I often wonder if we watched the same shows. I recently finally found all three seasons of Hung and have been re watching them! Brilliant! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review slyc3 boring didn't really like any characters whatsoever Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/23 Full Review Audience Member What is this TV Series is about? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A broke teacher decided to capitalize his best asset, in prostitution. With the help of his one night stand, he managed to get more income but he has to hide this secret from everyone he knows, including his ex wife and children. I enjoyed it immensely, sex does sells. The story developed in complexity as it goes and the jokes were great, but sometimes it did felt a bit short. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good show got cancelled though Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
