      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The scrutinizing camera angles of Keane might at first feel too close for comfort, but this powerful portrait of a man distraught by the abduction of his child plumbs the depths of mental illness and the corners of fleabag hotels in an intimate and touching examination of the seedier side of life.

Nigel Andrews Financial Times It is like bad Bresson, if that were a possibility. All signifiers and no meaning; all tics and no truths; all mute emoting and no emotion. Shock Therapy R Nothing escapes the camera lens. You can feel what he feels. The life he relives day after day finally has its own cast and a true life character. The unwitting girl nevertheless intuitively loves and cares for the hurting protagonist. Everything is real again and what will the protagonist do amidst this flood of emotions and a predilection that constantly grates against his mind and his heart, one and the same? This is a beautiful portrait of loss up close and very personal. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting piece but it was work to get through. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Really unsettling viewing and you're never quite sure where the boundary lies between a conscientious good man and a schizophrenic liability. Throwing a stranger's kid into the mix is all a little bit too much for comfort. An interesting portrait of a man's life unravelling in any case. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review william s Just all over the place and the camera angels are headache inducing.I give a big thumbs up for the imagination of the director but the movie is just to frantic to stay with. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The film isn't all that great. But Damian Lewis proves again why he continues to be one of the most underrated actors working today. It's his tour de force performance that really carries this film to the finish line. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The film isn't all that great.
