The songwriting exuded confidence, the excellent instrumentation resulted in various iconic riffs, and Petty's vocals set the standard for what was to be expected from the group from here on out. This album is good but let me warn all of you, as a Los Angeles resident, Century City is probably one of the most ass places to live in the city

Damn the Torpedoes is rated ''Really Good'', in my opinion, due to it being 66.67% relistenable.

Nerd Breakdown:

Ratio -
I view a masterpiece as 80% relistenable (8/10). Since AOTY goes to 100, I have to account for this by dividing 80 by 100. Giving me 0.80.

Out of 9 Total Songs -
0 were Skipped (Each equals 0.0)
6 were Good Album Songs (Each equals 0.5)
3 were Liked Songs I would go out of my way to listen to again. (Each equals 1.0)

I then use this formula:
((( Good Album Songs * 0.5 ) ... read more

As perfect of an All-Amercian-and-proud rock record as the 70s produced (Besides Springsteen) this is great pop song after great pop song. 'Don't Do Me Like That' is one of those songs that sounds very easy to write but in reality almost nobody has written such a catchy melody before.

Petty has such an optimistic viewpoint it's hard not to get convinced by him.
