Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers running back Franco Harris was remembered Wednesday across the NFL and Pennsylvania for his accomplishments on and off the field.

Harris starred for the Nittany Lions from 1969-71 and went on to a Hall of Fame career with the Steelers. His death at age 72 was announced days before the 50th anniversary of his unforgettable catch known as the “Immaculate Reception” and the retirement of his number with the Steelers.

Harris continued to maintain his ties with the Penn State community, such as his involvement in the Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania.

Here’s a look at some photos from the CDT archives of his time at Penn State on and off the field.
