Kaia Gerber channeled the monochrome trend while attending a “Palm Royale” FYC event in Los Angeles on Saturday. The actress appears in the new Apple TV+ series, which stars Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett and Laura Dern.
Gerber sported a black and white minidress featuring a bow applique by Celine. The supermodel accessorized with a diamond Jennifer Meyer necklace, gold watch and patent leather slingbacks.
Stylist Danielle Goldberg, whose clients also include Ayo Edebiri and Greta Lee, dressed Gerber for the occasion.
Hairdresser Bryce Scarlett styled Gerber’s brunette tresses in an updo, while makeup artist Nina Park gave her brown eyeshadow, black winged eyeliner and nude lip.
After monochrome hues had a major moment on the runways of Gucci, Chloé and Carven during the spring 2024 season, shades of black and white have made their way to the red carpet. Pared-down palettes were popular at award shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars, with stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Carey Mulligan embodying the minimalist trend.
Last month, Gerber chatted with WWD about her latest role. Set in 1960s Palm Beach, “Palm Royale” examines wealth, status and class among an uppercrust clique of socialites. The series is based on Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel, “Mr. and Mrs. American Pie.”
Gerber’s Mitzi is a ditzy manicurist who pursues a modeling career, bonding with her client Maxine (Wiig) as she navigates the politics of Palm Beach society.
“I love the opportunity to be transported in time,” Gerber said of the period comedy-drama. “The fashion and hair and makeup, we went from these very structured, modest clothes of the 50s to this bright and colorful, more expressive way of dressing. Along with that, the 60s were such a pivotal time in history for people speaking up politically and fighting for peace and justice.”
