Kevin McCarthy

Kevin McCarthy is a conservative American politician from Bakersfield, California, who served for nine months as the 55th speaker of the U.S. House, succeeding longtime Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He is the only House speaker in U.S. history to be recalled, following a successful no-confidence vote in October 2023. Before McCarthy was elected to Congress in 2006, he was the minority leader in the California State Assembly.
