We just spent almost a full day at the Museo Larco, which has an amazing collection of pre-Inca artifacts.

What made the trip extra special was the guided tour with Jahssel. They did an amazing job weaving the relics into a memorable story. We lucked out because only two of us were on the 1:30 tour. Jahssel was both knowledgeable and fluent in English and answered questions very patiently.

The 10 soles we spent for each of us ended up being the best 20 soles of the trip. I highly recommend the guided tour. .

I had a wonderful time, took some pictures, keep in mind that it can get hot during the day in May.
My husband and I recommend that you visit Miraflores in Lima - Peru.

Very interesting museum with both works of art and artifacts from the beginnings of Peru. Can be viewed within 2 hours. Descriptions in both Spanish and English.

We went to this place not expecting much from it, and we ended up have lots of WOW moments.

All visits are guided (spanish and english available), but there is not need to book it in advance. We go in by small groups of 20 max, and the tour guide will educate you about the Franciscanos history, life and immigration to Peru.

Photos and videos are not allowed, and the tour lasts no more than 1h. You will have to climb stairs (didn’t see elevators there) and you will go into the catacombs and stay there for a while… so if you’re claustrophobic it might be an issue.
I’m claustrophobic myself, and it wasn’t an issue for me… but depending on the syndrome level, it could be.

Into the catacombs you will see lots of bones and skeletons.

The whole building is very well maintained and packed with history.
It was the highlight of our visit to Lima.

Little did we know we would be returning to this site for dinner later on, but that's another story! This wonderful relic & museum is amazing that is has survived in this chaotic city. The ruins date back to 450AD-650AD and were abandoned in about 800AD but was used again as a cemetery up to the Spanish invasion. It is made up of millions of mud bricks and gives an insight into the inhabitants of those times. The museum while small has some great displays & artifacts and a level walking track around the site. Well worth a visit.

A really stunning Plaza awaits in the historic centre of Lima. Each side is a viewing pleasure with the Lima Cathedral dominating the eastern side of the plaza with the Presidential Palace taking the northern aspect and bright colourful buildings with beautiful timber balconies taking up the other sides. In the middle of the Plaza a great bronze fountain that dates back to 1650 and still works! We were there on a sunny & busy Sunday with what seemed to be half the population of Lima? A great spot to enjoy & wander.

The Miraflores Boardwalk (Malecon de Miraflores) is a splendid approximately 3 km path that winds along the water atop the high cliff. There are fun little parks, including the romantic El Parque del Amor, cafes, viewpoints, and a spot where daredevils launch themselves with specially designed parachutes.

To avoid walking the same path back, we took the coastal path along the water, passed the last footbridge leading up to the start of the boardwalk at the end farthest from the Lacomar Shopping Mall. This way, we got to see both the water (surfers) and airborne daredevils.

If you’re walking along the coast in the Miraflores area of Lima, this park is definitely worth a stop!

It’s a lovely green space with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

The landscaping in the park as very nice—trees and flowers and lawns. Staff were busy taking care of the park during our visit—a sign of the pride Lima seems to take in its public spaces and, I’m sure, the reason why the park was immaculately clean!

Of course the main attraction is the “lover’s” theme: the walls of the park have pretty mosaics, inlaid with quotations about love, and there’s a large central sculpture that’s fun to see.

A nice diversion during a coastal walk.

This Cathedral inside is really majestic, its chapels and sculptures have remarkable quality and one of the main tourist attraction is the crypt of Francisco Pizarro.
