This subreddit is dedicated to the love of Hallmark movies. For those of you who love them, ironically or unironically. These movies are amazing. Even if you only watch for the Christmas movies.
Highest rated Hallmark movies, actors, and actresses. Or, anyone interested in some data? (I totally didn't spend all weekend making a spreadsheet of Hallmark Movies)
So, I don't know if anyone else is like me but I spend way too much time looking up the IMDb ratings of various Hallmark movies so I know which ones are worth recording to watch and which ones I can probably skip. So I decided to make a spreadsheet with all the movies and their ratings so I could have a handy reference. I am not finished yet - so far I've inputted only the holiday/seasonal themed movies that are listed on the app (414 of them). I plan to add the uncategorized dramas and mysteries another weekend soon. With the data I do have, I wanted to see which Hallmark movies are the highest rated, and which frequent actors and actresses have the highest (and lowest) average rating. I thought some of you might be interested as well. Without further ado, here is that info:
The average (and median) rating on IMDb for Hallmark Movies is 6.5. However, for non-Christmas movies, the median and average are both 6.6. This could be because non-Christmas Hallmark movies are slightly better than Christmas ones. But, it's more likely due to it being mostly Hallmark fans who are watching (and rating) non-Christmas programming and fans are probably rating the movies a bit higher than non-fans.

So there it is. I plan to keep adding to the spreadsheet so if people are interested, I will update when I have more and new information.
**edited to make a correction - thanks u/Maschel
This is amazing. How many movies have you watched?
Bethany Joy Lenz and Autumn Reeser were both on very popular teen dramas in the early 2000s so I have a feeling that may play into their higher ratings more than their hallmark movies.
ETA: Cameron Mathison was also on a very popular soap for awhile so I’m sure that contributes to his rating as well. Not that they aren’t all great Hallmark actors, but a lot of them have been in more popular works than their Hallmark movies. I don’t know how one could rate them just by their Hallmark movies though.
Wow, this is amazing!
Is there anywhere to find the individual ratings of each first run movie this Christmas? Curious to see what worked and what didn't
Great job, thank you so much!
Well done. I was thinking of doing something similar. Do you have your data retrieval automated?
I don’t at the moment but I’m working on it.
This is so cool! I'm really surprised at some of the names at the top. I'm not a fan of either 2021 movie that are so high.
I'll definitely check out some of the ones I'm not familiar with though.
Thanks!
This is AMAZING!!! I don't enough to give you gold so please take this: 🌟
I'm surprised Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell aren't on there. Christopher is very nice to look at, but then again he's not being hired for his acting ability haha
Cindy Busby only had 4 credits with the movies I’ve put in so far so I didn’t include her in this list but she’s sitting at 6.1.
Busby's moives are mostly not good.
This is amazing!
Is there any chance you would be willing to send the spreadsheet to me? I have wanted to do the same as we dont have hallmark or frndly in the UK so I have been trying to note down which ones I've watched - I had planned to sit there typing up a spreadsheet myself but it sounds like you may have done the hardwork already?
I would be super appreciative but completely understand if not of course!
Here you go -

Gosh thank you SO much! I've downloaded it and will go through tomorrow ticking off what I've seen!
Really thank you so so much, I really appreciate it!
I'm curious why you're referring to both an average rating and a mean rating, unless you meant median for one of those.
I would also point out that there is a third explanation for the difference in average ratings - that the difference is (most likely) not statistically significant.
Oh dear, you are right - I meant median not mean, brain fog moment. Thanks for pointing it out.
And no, none of this is statistically significant. It's just for fun.
The interesting thing is that there is no variation here. This basically says that any Hallmark movie will score ~7.3 and any Hallmark actor/actress will score ~6.6. I think you’re going to need some other set of criteria to guide your viewing choices. ;)
I still use 6.5 as a guideline just because it makes me feel better to have some way of deciding what I'll spend my time watching.
But no, there isn't a whole lot of variation.
Wow. Impressive. I agree with the actors and actresses.
Love and Sunshine was not good. Can someone explain why they liked it?
I'm kind of impressed that All of My Heart The Wedding ended up being the highest-rated of the trilogy (I thought it was completely pointless).
I agree. It was an unnecessary sequel and my least favorite of the trilogy
Jenny and Brian are low key leeches. They got free labor and money from people in town.
That being said the original, All of My Heart is one of my all time favorites.
