I’ve been going to Montgomery high school since eighth grade when I first moved here from Conroe ISD. Once I first moved to Montgomery, it was a big change in administration and academically because CISD Was not as strict on grades like MISD was. At first, it was hard to stay on top of my grades, but then over the years administration got weaker and teachers Stopped caring, Which obviously Affected half of the kids and made many kids not care about their education. Although the teachers are great, they are just not as strong as they used to be academically with our grades. One thing I can say our food options are not emphasizing. I used to be so excited about going to lunch, but once the food changed and we have to get baked Cheetos and baked chips, it all sucked And many people started bringing their own food. I truly believe that we should have better food. The school could raise money And get better and newer things added to the MISD School district.
Montgomery is a school that definitely tries it’s best, but with the constant changes of staff and administration it is very hard to keep a good handle on what the students need. When looking at the programs inside the school while some programs may be so over funded they can buy luxury items, other programs start the school year in debt. There could also be more of a diversity in sports choices as we seem to only provide the main sports for seasons. The college readiness for students could use improvements as there isn't much talk between counselors and students on how to prepare for the future.
My experience being an alum of MISD was excellent. The sports program was the best, I became a two time state champion. There was really no worse parts, I really enjoyed this district as it felt like a second home! I would like to see more safety throughout all schools.
