Beyond Paradise spoilers follow.

Beyond Paradise viewers have responded to Humphrey and Martha's wedding twist in the season two finale.

Alongside multiple references to Coronation Street's Peter Barlow, tonight's (April 26) episode saw long-running will they/won't they couple Humphrey and Martha finally make it down the aisle...

Only they decided against getting married at the last moment, instead choosing to postpone the nuptials that Martha's mother Anne had very elaborately organised and enjoy a heartfelt moment as a family on the beach.

Viewers were left disappointed to see the couple come so close to tying the knot but ultimately change their mind at the last minute, sharing their thoughts on Twitter/X.

"I wanted to see the wedding, the speeches, first dance, and vows, I feel betrayed, beyond betrayed," one viewer wrote, while a second person tweeted that it was an "anti-climax" to not see Humphrey and Martha get married.

"I was looking forward to the wedding," a third viewer added, alongside a sad face emoji.

Despite the disappointment, fans were still happy to see the season end on a positive note, with some labelling it a "brilliant episode" and "feel-good TV."

"Brilliant series finale. Great stories and characters, clever, funny and poignant I'm going to miss my weekly visit to Shipton Abbott," another viewer summarised.

There's still more to come from Humphrey and Martha though, with the couple also learning they would become foster parents to a young boy named Ryan, who fans had previously met in the show's Christmas special.

Viewers were delighted to see Humphrey and Martha finally get the opportunity to be parents as they quickly bonded with the child. "Im so so happy they're getting to foster Ryan," one person wrote, while a second person joked: "Can Humphrey foster me too??"

There's no worries about Humphrey and Martha's story ending here either, with the show also getting confirmation of a season three renewal.

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
