The Face of the Enemy

Speak with Emily

Examine the folder on the floor to obtain the Dylan Faden Observation report. Make a note of the level 6 door up here and go through to the secure area. On top of Dylan's cell block is a loot container while behind some whiteboards in the top left corner of the room is a tape recorder with Dylan Questioning.

Return to the Upper Panopticon Control Point and fast travel to Central Executive. Pick up the Jukebox Token to unlock the Put a Record On side mission.

Go behind the war table on the right of the area and look in the folder on the table for the Television Proposal report.

Side Mission: Put a Record On

Ask Arish about the Jukebox Token

Arish is at the war table near to the Control Point. He will tell you the purpose of the tokens: they are used with the Jukebox Object of Power in the room near the security checkpoint.

Use the Token in the Jukebox

Insert the token and you'll be whisked to a previously unexplored location in The Black Quarry, Quarry Site Beta.

Discover what happened to the expedition team

Follow the long, but essentially linear path to The Formation.

Travel through the active gate to the island site

One of the gates is blinking.

Go through, wait for the rocks to rise and use Levitate to cross between the platforms. In case you're wondering, you cannot go through the other gates at this time - even if you looks like you can get to the other side, you will be stopped by an invisible wall.

Search the site for the missing expedition team

There is a large area to explore but nothing to find at this time. To progress, go up the slope from where you entered the area.

Look for a tape recorder on the ground and play it.

Survive

The area will be invaded by Hiss in several waves. When the last of the enemies is dead, you will be snatched back to the Jukebox.

Speak with Arish

Return to Arish to turn the quest in. He will give you a couple more Jukebox Tokens along with The Formation research.

You have unlocked the game's Expeditions mode, a combination of time trial and horde mode. You probably aren't ready for it yet and it is in no way required to progress the game.

Talk to Arish again to learn about his former squadmates, unlocking the Old Friends side mission. This is another one that you can complete right away.

Side Mission: Old Friends

Fast travel to Ventilation and go through the door towards the Janitor's office. You'll find two Rangers fighting Hiss-corrupted Cho. Use Launch and your Service Weapon to put him out of his misery.

Fast travel to the NSC Coolant Pumps Entrance and go through the tunnel to the NSC Coolant Pumps. Hiss-corrupted Heptonstall is a Hiss Distorted. Keep a Shield up, wait for him attack and then use Launch and your Service Weapon before he goes invisible again.

Fast travel to the NSC Energy Converters Entrance. Go through to the Energy Converters structure to find Hiss-corrupted Remus floating around the place. You'll be largely dependent on your Service Weapon here since he's a Hiss Elevated.

Fast travel to the Atlas Chamber. You'll immediately find yourself in battle with Hiss-corrupted Guy who's a Hiss Warped. Use Launch to break his shield and follow up with your Service Weapon.

Head upstairs from the Atlas Chamber to the control room and continue through towards Black Rock Processing. Here you'll find a couple of Rangers fighting Hiss-corrupted Hazzard who's a Hiss Trooper. Keep up a sustained assault to wear him down.

In the top left of the chamber, look up to spot a ledge that you can levitate to.

This leads to a storage area where you can find a folder on the floor containing the Surfboard Supplement research.

Drop down and return to the Atlas Chamber and fast travel to the Quarry Entrance. Go straight through to the Quarry where you'll have to fight Hiss-Corrupted Thomson. He's not hard but you'll have to avoid Astral Spikes.

Fast travel back to Central Executive and report back to Arish for two Ability points and a Shield Reload Efficiency mod.

Go into the Board room and examine the folder on top of a flight case on the left of the room and the one on the board room table to acquire two pieces of research: Timeline of Events and Speech Analysis. Afterwards, talk to Emily to learn more about Dylan.

Speak with Dylan on the upper level

Go up the stairs to the left of the Board Room and go through the door guarded by two rangers a short way along the landing.

Approach Dylan for a scene.

Afterwards, speak to him to find that he's not quite all there. He will, however, give you the Level 6 Keycard that he presumably secreted in his prison pocket. You can talk to Dylan some more if you like but you won't get much sense out of him.

Before continuing with the main quest, there are a whole bunch of optional activities that have opened up now that you can Levitate. The first thing to do is start Old Growth so that you can access all the Hidden Locations.

Side Mission: Old Growth (Part 1)

Locate Dr. Underhill below Central Research

Fast travel to Parapsycholgy, go down the stairs and follow the sign to Central Research. Go down the steps opposite, past the Shelter to the overgrown area where you will find the entrance to The Pit.

Carefully platform your way to the bottom, picking up the loot container about halfway down. Go through the doorway in front of you and then left into an office and go into a passage behind where you'll find another loot container. In the office across the way is a power core that you can launch into a receptacle on the wall to power up the elevator back to Central Research.

Head further into the area to find Dr. Underhill's lab guarded by two Rangers. Grab the loot container from the platform on the right before going through the level 4 door. There are three collectibles to gather while you're here. The trolley on the right contains a folder with Underhill: Checking In. Read the folder by the fume cupboard on the left of the room to find the Mold Threshold research. Finally, look on the lab bench at the back for a folder with the Threshold Utility Counteressay research.

When you're done poking round her lab, talk to Dr. Underhill who will update your objectives. Exhaust her conversation topics for background information.

Collect five Mold samples for Dr. Underhill

Leave Dr. Underhill's lab through the other door and go up through the door at the top of the stairs. Continue straight and drop down to the level below where you'll find a loot container and a folder on a table with the Pink Flamingo Supplement case file. Climb back out and go down the other passageway. You'll be assaulted by Mold Hosts. The ones who try to get up close are no particular threat but the other type has a dangerous long range attack that you should be careful of - use Pierce to take them out from a distance.

When the area is clear, Levitate to a platform in the area below with two desks on it where you'll find Mold Sample E.

From this platform, look across the open area to see a doorway in the opposite wall. This leads to a disused laboratory area with two loot containers and a folder on a table with the Picnic Basket Procedures case file. Leave the disused lab and Levitate up to the raised area opposite where you came in. Go through the doorway marked "Restrooms".

Once through the door, look up to find a hole in the ceiling that you can Levitate through. This leads to a Hidden Location with a loot container.

Drop back down and then climb up onto a raised platform where you'll find Mold Sample B growing out of a toilet.

Go back into the restroom area and go through the passage opposite to where you came in. Clear the Mold Hosts from the room and continue ahead. Turn right through the door marked "LAB 05" and eliminate any enemies.

Afterwards, collect Mold Sample C from the table and watch the television to acquire the When You're Caught in a House Shift Threshold Kids presentation.

Leave the lab and scramble up the blocks to emerge back in the main area. Your goal is the staircase on the other side.

Use Levitate to cross to the second platform. Ignore "LAB 08" to your right - it just leads to an enemy - and continue across. Look underneath the staircase to find Mold Sample D.

Grab the loot container at the bottom of the stairs, go up and claim the Active Threshold Control Point.

The area is likely to be invaded by Mold Hosts at this point. When the area is clear, you can find two narrow passageways with loot containers and a wider passageway in the corner where you'll find Mold Sample A growing near the bodies of some rangers.

Speak with Dr. Underhill

Return to the Control Point and look across the chamber to see some ledges that you can reach with Levitate.

They're a bit high so tap the jump button to get off the ground and then hold it to Levitate up and you'll be able to pull yourself up. Do this again (I used Launch to bring up a flight case from the ground below to give me an extra bit of height) and you'll find a Hidden Location with a loot container.

Go back down to the Control Point, go to the ledge overlooking the large chamber and look right to spot a hole in the wall that you can levitate to.

This is LAB 02 and contains a loot container and a folder on the desk with the Balloon Procedures case file.

Return to Dr. Underhill (you can either go back the way you came or fast travel to the Parapsycholgy Control Point and use the lift) and give her the Mold Samples. In return, she will create a pill that makes you immune to Mold spores.

While it is possible to complete the side mission now, the main purpose for the time being was becoming immune to the effects of Mold to assist in exploration. I suggest you wait until you have completed the Health and Shield ability trees before going down into The Pit.

Optional Exploration

You can now get to most of the Hidden Locations which will earn you a decent number of Ability Points. Levitate opens up a number of other previously inaccessible areas as well where you can find collectibles and loot containers.

Optional Exploration: Executive Sector

You'll want to invest six points in Levitation and unlock Ground Slam to be able to access one of the Hidden Areas here.

Make your way to the Cafeteria and kill any Hiss that spawn. There's a Shelter here that was previously inaccessible due to the Mold infestion. Claim the loot container inside.

Return to Central Executive and fast travel to the Mail Room. Go up the stairs, past the Shelter and through the open plan office. Go up the next set of stairs and into the office on the left. Go through to the Mold-infested area at the back to unlock the Hidden Location reward. You can also claim a loot container while you're here.

Go through to the nearby server room and fight off the Hiss that spawn here. Levitate on top of one of the booths to unlock the Hidden Location bonus.

If you can manage it, you will find a loot container hidden up in the roof space - use one of the speakers on the walls to gain the necessary height.

Return downstairs and go into the room where you fought Mr. Tommasi earlier. You can use Levitate to access raised areas on the side of the room. There's a loot container in the raised area on the right. Claiming it will cause enemies to spawn in the room below.

Fast travel to Dead Letters. You can Levitate to the top of the filing cabinets against the back wall and claim the loot container there.

If you climb up on the concrete platform just behind the Control Point. You can use the jump-Levitate trick to get enough height to get onto the upper levels of Dead Letters.

Go into the office at the back of the first level to find a folder with the Smoking Ban dead letter. Go up the stairs and through a level 4 door and look on a filing cabinet for a folder containing the White Kitchen dead letter.

Leave the office and go up the stairs to the second level. Look on a filing cabinet in the open area for a folder containing Pinstripe World. Follow the landing round to find a loot container on top of a tall cupboard and then look among the papers on the floor the Cat Clock dead letter.

Continue to the topmost level. At the top of the stairs is a folder on a filing cabinet containing Our Whereabouts. Go clockwise around the level to find Vivid Dreams among the papers on the floor and claim the nearby loot container.

Return to Central Executive and make your way to Executive Affairs. If you look at the large structure near the Shelter, you'll be able to spot a loot container on top.

This is going to take some trial and error. Stand in front, use the jump-Levitate technique to gain some height, aim for the side wall to the right of the structure and use Ground Slam to bash against the wall and (hopefully) bounce onto the top. Once up there, you can claim a loot container.

An alternative possibility is to Levitate onto one of the floating bodies and use it as a platform to gain the necessary height; I found that an exercise in frustration, however.

Optional Exploration: Maintenance Sector

Ride the Sector Elevator down to the Maintenance Access Corridor. If you look up, you can see a ledge above the pipes.

Use Levitate to get up there and then look up to find another hole that you can Levitate through. You may have to climb on a pipe to get sufficient height.

Once through, Levitate once again to reach a walkway and claim the Hidden Location point.

Follow the path around and drop down the other side to reach a previously inaccessible area. You'll find a loot container on the walkway and a tape recorder with America Overnight Ep. 352. Unlock the nearby door to bring you back out by the Sector Elevator.

Start making your way towards Ventilation. In the first room you come to, look left and up to see a walkway that you can Levitate to.

Go through the level 5 door to find a loot container and a folder on the floor with the Fan Procedures case file.

Continue to the Ventilation Control Point and go through the door towards the Janitor's Office. Look left to find a Mold-infested room with a loot container inside that you can now enter.

Continue through Ventilation and head left to the break room where you initiated the Merry Chase side mission. Look up to find a large hole in the ceiling.

Levitate through it to be taken to a Hidden Location in the Astral Plane.

You'll need to use Levitate to get across the platforms. There are no fewer than three loot containers to be claimed on your way to the exit. You will emerge back in the break room where you started. Go into the Janitor's Office and look on the noticeboard to pick up two side missions: What A Mess: Clear the Mold and What a Mess: Talk to the Plants.

Fast travel to the NSC Energy Converters Entrance. To the right of the Control Point is a Mold-infested chamber.

Inside is a loot container and a folder on the ground with Cafeteria Concerns.

Return to the Control Point and fast travel to the NSC Power Plant Upper Level. Go across to the central structure and start Levitating to the upper platforms.

You'll probably need to use the pipes for assistance a couple of times. When you get to the uppermost platform, you'll claim the Hidden Location and can pick up a loot container as you ascend. There's also a folder on the ground with the Surfboard Procedures case file. There's something else at the top: a TV with an image of the Furnace on the screen.

This is part of an unmarked side mission: you need to get these TVs to the Furnace Chamber and consign them to the flames. Pick it up using Launch and then use Levitate to get down to the ground level a bit more quickly than walking. The Furnace Chamber is through the NSC Control Pumps entrance.

Having disposed of the first TV, the second TV is near the Furnace Chamber Entrance, on top of some tall shelves on the left.

Above the entrance to the Furnace Chamber is an opening in the wall.

Get up there however you please. The third TV is behind an impassable fence. To get it, Levitate and then use Launch to pull it.

Head back towards the NSC Power Plant. After going through the gate, look left to see a door that leads to a storeroom. The fourth TV is on a shelf.

Having disposed of this one, return to the NSC Power Plant area and fight off the Hiss that try and stop you. Near the Coolant Pumps entrance are some pipes and you'll find the fifth TV nestled among them.

Having disposed of the TV, start heading towards the NSC Control Pumps. Halfway down the tunnel is a raised opening surrounded by Mold.

Levitate through it and you'll emerge in a raised area above the NSC Control Pumps. If you Levitate over to the platform in the centre, you can claim a loot container. You'll have to kill quite a few Hiss first, though.

Float back down to ground level and make your way to the lift in the north of the chamber. Above it and to the right is the sixth TV on a box sticking out of the wall.

Before disposing of it, make sure that you're not carrying 24 weapon mods. Consign it to the flames to earn some materials and a unique mod for your Grip weapon form, Eternal Fire. This nifty item allows you to fire your Grip Weapon continuously (so long as you don't miss too often).

Fast travel to the Quarry Entrance. Avoiding the Astral Spikes, head down the tunnel on the left (the one with the fork lift trucks) and look for an entrance covered by large blocks.

You can squeeze through a gap in the top-right. Once through, drop down into the shaft here and make your way to the Mold-infested bottom to claim the Hidden Location point. There are a pair of Mold Hosts here - one of them is the dangerous sniper type - who are really hard to see because of the bright light behind you. Once they're dead, you can go in there and claim a loot container.

Return to the Control Point to heal if required and go back into the Quarry. Look up to see a hole high up in the wall on the left. There are some shelves underneath that you can climb on to gain the necessary height to get through.

Make your way through the tunnel and through the level 5 door that you come to. This leads to a shaft that you need your Levitate ability to negotiate. When you get to the top, look to the other side to see a higher platform.

Use Levitate to get across and up and claim the loot container at the top. Go back down and through the opening to some maintenance tunnels. There are two loot containers to claim here. When you get to the locked door, you'll be awarded the Hidden Location point. Unlock it to create a shortcut to the Furnace Chamber.

Return to the shaft and make your way to the bottom. Go back through the door that you came through and look across the way to see another ledge that you can reach using Levitate.

Go across and drop down to one of the paths that lead into the Quarry proper. After a short distance, look right to see another ledge that you can Levitate to.

Float across to find a loot container and a control room with another loot container and a folder on a desk with Darling: Dimensional Staffing.

Optional Exploration: Research Sector

Return to Central Executive and take the Sector Elevator to the Research Sector. There's a side mission that you can get out of the way.

Side Mission: What A Mess: Talk to the Plants

The first plant is next to the receptionist's desk as you enter the Research Sector from the Sector Elevator.

Head up to the top floor and defeat any Hiss who show up. The second plant is to the right of the door to Dr. Darling's Office.

Hidden Location 1

Return to the steps and look up to see a balcony above you and a hole in the wall that you can use to help get up there.

Claim the loot container at the top. Look across past the tree to see the balcony which is your next target. Destroy the railing with Launch to make it easier to get to your target. Use Levitate and Evade to get across.

Look across from your new vantage point to see a third balcony across the way. Once more, use Levitate and Evade to get across. You will emerge outside the door to Lab 79.

Go through the door, down the steps and through another door to claim your hard-earned Hidden Location point. There's a loot container in the soundproof room.

Return to the stairs up to Dr. Darling's Lab. If you look across, you'll see a balcony that you can reach through a combination of Levitate and Evade to dash across before losing height.

There are two labs here and you need to use Evade to crash through the windows. The one on the right contains a loot container. Interact with the console to acquire the Large Scale HRA Darling presentation.

Go into the other lab and look on a bench to find a folder with Darling: Underhill Disagreement. Go through the door at the back and then through another door to the Mold-infested Lab 10.

Go through and look on a bench on the left of the room to find the Hammer Procedures case file. Go up the stairs at the back to find a loot container and claim a Hidden Location point. The lab will be invaded by Mold Hosts.

Leave and go down to the lower level towards Parapsychology. Look to the right of the reception desk for the third plant.

From the reception area, go down the stairs on the left. The fourth plant is in a planter opposite the Shelter.

Follow the sign for the cafeteria and you'll find the fifth plant after a few steps, near the tables.

Continue past the cafeteria and you'll spot the final plant underneath the sign for the toilets.

You will receive 2 Ability Points and goodies for talking to all six plants.

Fast travel to Central Research and look over the balcony rail to see an office window.

Use Levitate to get onto the window ledge and Evade to crash through the glass and claim the Hidden Location reward. There's a loot container inside as well.

Optional Exploration: Containment Sector

Fast travel to Logistics in the Containment Sector. Look left to see a hole in the ceiling.

Levitate through it to claim the Hidden Location point and two loot containers. Examine the folder on the floor to acquire Tennyson Report.

Head towards Security and turn left into the Medical Wing. Go down the stairs to find a level 6 door that you can now go through. The area beyond is throughly Mold-infested. Make your way through a bathroom with two loot containers. Leave and go up the steps by the Shelter. Go through a body scanner and then open another level 6 door. This leads a room with two loot containers and another room with a tape recorder that unlocks Medical Examination. While you're here, you can unlock the other door which leads back to the Medical Wing.

Side Mission: What a Mess: Clear the Mold

Continue through to the overgrown area. Go through the first door on the right. Look through the overgrown doorway at the end to see the first Mold growth. Simply shoot it with your Service Weapon.

Go back out and through the first door on the left and look inside a cupboard for the second growth.

Leave the room and look above the entrance to the open area for the third growth.

Return to the open area where you'll find the fourth growth on the left-hand wall.

Go back up the stairs to find the fifth growth in the first shower stall.

Look on the ceiling near the exit for the final growth.

You will receive three Ability Points for completing the side mission.

Continue through to Security and go through the Firebreak. Halfway across, look left to spot an opening in the wall.

Levitate across to claim the Hidden Location point and two loot containers.

Continue through to the Panopticon and fast travel to the Upper Panopticon. Use Levitate to get up to the next level, make your way across the bridge, turn right by the Swan Boat and continue to the P6 Cell. Go through to the observation gallery where you'll find a level 6 door that you can get through to claim a loot container.

Go back out and Levitate down to the Archives level. Go into Archives and up the stairs on the left. Turn left to find a level 6 door. Go inside to acquire the Altered Items Darling Presentation.

Return to the Upper Panopticon Control Point. You may remember that when you first came here, there was some poor agent staring at a fridge unable to look away. You weren't able to help him then but you can now.

Side Mission: Fridge Duty

Assist the Agent in the Panopticon cell - 4th Floor

Go to unit 15 and use the intercom to talk to the agent. He needs to be relieved by the Panopticon Supervisor.

Speak with Langston

Fast travel back to the lower level, head through the door towards Security and speak with Langston who will open the cell door.

Return to Phillip - 4th Floor

Fast travel once again to the Upper Panopticon and go through the now-open door. When you do so something very bad will happen to poor Phillip. Before going into the cell, claim the loot container and read the folder on the floor to acquire the Employee Incident report.

Find a way to subdue the Refrigerator

Make some boss preparations - I would suggest sticking Headshot Boost mods along with Eternal Fire in your Service Weapon - and interact with the fridge to try and cleanse it. Do not, however, try to leave the room because you will die.

You will be transported to a boss arena where you'll fight a creature called Former. The main threat is not the boss but the arena itself - you can easily run off the sides and the boss creates new holes for you to fall down.

The weak point is the central eye, particularly when it's firing orbs at you. You can use Launch to fire them right back for a decent chunk of damage. You will receive a number of rewards for defeating it: the Astral Phenomena trophy, the Refrigerator Procedures case file and the Former Hotline entry.

Speak with Langston (again)

Return to Langston at the Panopticon Entrance to turn in the quest. You will receive 3 Ability Points and the usual goodies, including a new material type called Untapped Potential which will allow you to upgrade one of your weapon forms. You will also unlock a new side mission, Langston's Runaways.

The new side mission is reasonably straightforward (at least initially) so you may as well start it now.

Side Mission: Langston's Runaways (Part 1)

Cleanse and contain the Traffic Light

Fast travel (again!) to the Upper Panopticon and head across the bridge to Fortified Unit 716 where you cleansed the Benicoff TV. This is straightforward but mildly annoying. Only move when the Traffic Light is showing green (you'll be sent back if you move when it's red).

When you get close, the Traffic Light will retreat to the chamber where you fought Salvador. Follow the same rules as earlier and cleanse it once it's in range. You will receive the Traffic Light Procedures case file.

Cleanse and contain the Hand Chair

Fast travel to Logistics and from there head north and west to the Medical Wing. Kill the various Hiss that try and stop you and then take out 3 Hiss Nodes in the room: one on the wall in the open area, one in the large office and one in the shower area. Afterwards, use Launch to get the Hand Chair down from the ceiling and cleanse it. You will receive the Hand Chair Procedures case file for doing so.

This seems a little bit bugged: you may have to destroy the Hiss Nodes several more time before you can leave the Medical Wing.

Cleanse and contain the Japanese Paper Lantern

Fast travel to the Sealed Threshold Corridor. Head upstairs and turn left to the Sealed Threshold Checkpoint, defeat any Hiss that try and stop you and continue to the Sealed Threshold Hall. The Paper Lantern will be found amongst the clocks and will use them to form an armour shell around itself.

Approach it and use melee attacks to knock the clocks out of the way and cleanse it when it reveals itself.

You will receive the Paper Lantern Procedures case file for doing so.

Cleanse and contain the Moving Letters

Fast travel to Dead Letters in the Executive Sector. After disposing of the Hiss that spawn, you'll find your target near to the entrance leading to the Cafeteria.

Approach it and attempt to cleanse it. It will start teleporting madly around the area.

Do not try to chase it. Simply stand at one of the places where it teleports to and wait for it to come to a rest where you're standing. Cleanse it when it does so.

There are two more to cleanse. You need to Levitate to the upper levels of Dead Letters using the concrete platform behind the Control Point. You'll find the second Moving Letter in the office at the end of the first level.

Once again stand at one of the points it teleports to and cleanse it as opportunity arises.

Go up the stairs to the top floor. You'll find the final Moving Letter on top of some filing cabinets at the top of the stairs.

When you cleanse it, you will acquire the Letters Procedures case file and your objectives will update.

Return to Langston

At least you're near a Control Point! Fast travel back to the Panopticon and find Langston. What do you know? More Altered Items have gone walkabouts. At least you get 2 Ability Points.

Cleanse and contain the Flamingo

Fast travel to the Sealed Threshold Corridor. Go through the doorway at the top left of the room and follow the corridor around until you see a purple glow.

Follow it until you see the Flamingo. As you approach, it will distort the space around you: use Levitate and Evade to catch up with it.

When you attempt to cleanse it, you will find yourself in a rematch against Former, only this time in a much smaller arena. I can't believe that the designers figured we wanted to repeat that boss fight. Defeat it to acquire the Pink Flamingo Procedures case file.

Cleanse and contain the Rubber Duck

Fast travel to Central Executive and take the Sector Elevator down to Research. Instead of heading down into Central Research take a right to use the shortcut to the HRA Lab that you opened up at the end of Threshold. Go through the HRA Lab and look for a door to the south blocked by flight cases.

Clear them out of the way and go through. Look up to see a hole in the wall and Levitate through it to emerge in a service tunnel.

Follow the tunnel until you reach a loot container, killing any Mold Hosts in your way, and then drop through the nearby doorway to emerge by the Rubber Duck's containment unit. Approach it and will teleport somewhere. Fortunately, it will stick to Protective Studies. Listen out for the sound of its quacking and approach it to have it zoom off again. Eventually it appears to get bored and allows you to approach it and cleanse it.

You'll receive the Rubber Duck Procedures case file.

Cleansing the final Altered Item requires progress in the main quest. You'll be able to complete it then.

There should be one more side mission in your quest list that you can complete now (Old Growth can wait a bit longer). Head to the Nearby Ritual Division Control Point.

Side Mission: The Enemy Within

Investigate the Safe Room

Fast travel to the Sealed Threshold Entrance. Head down the nearby stairs and take a left up the pile of clocks to reach the Sealed Threshold Hall. Go into the Shelter and look on the bunk for the Sealed Threshold Account.

Continue further into the Shelter until you come to a gap that you need to Levitate across. Climb up the other side and claim the loot container. There are a couple of other loot containers that you can see above you to the left and right. Ignore them for the moment since you can't get to them from this side. If you are playing the Ultimate Edition, you can claim the Sealed Threshold Atrium control point.

If you look across the gap, you will be able to see the Anchor Altered Item floating in the air.

Use Levitate and Evade to get across. As you do so, you will see the Anchor sink out of view. Stick any damage bonus mods you have on your Pierce weapon form and equip it. Approach the mouth of the pit in front of you for a boss battle.

The Anchor rotates clockwise and launches a stream of clocks at each platform in the chamber in turn. It starts off facing the platform to your right. When it opens up, shoot it twice with Pierce. It will now rotate to face your platform. Use Launch to pick up the red clock and when the Anchor opens up, launch the clock at its core. You can now Levitate to the platform to your left and repeat the process. At this point it will start to rotate faster and Hiss enemies (mostly Hiss Charged) will start to spawn. At this point, it becomes a matter of managing the spawns while continuing to damage the boss. From here, I wouldn't bother trying to do the red clock trick unless you happen to get lucky. With Pierce, you can damage the boss when it's not facing you. Just make sure that you're not on the platform when the boss launches its attack since it will take you down to critical health. Keep an eye out for Hiss Charged (and a few Hiss Troopers) and you should prevail. Killing the boss will unlock the Living Archetypes trophy.

Contain the Anchor

Afterwards, cleanse the Anchor to receive 3 Ability Points and the Anchor Procedures case file.

From this side of the gap, you can get to the two loot containers that you missed earlier. If you've not done so already, I suggest that you use the Untapped Potential obtained from the Anchor fight to upgrade your Pierce weapon form. There's another boss awaiting your attention and you should have been able to upgrade your abilities sufficiently.

Side Mission: Old Growth (Part 2)

Investigate the Pit

Fast travel to the Active Threshold. Go to the ledge and drop into the Pit below you.

Using the above screenshot as a reference, hug the top right corner as you Levitate downwards and you should land on a ledge. Go through a doorway here to find a loot container and a folder with the Hammer Supplement case file.

At the bottom, you will see two very tough Mold Hosts ahead. Use a combination of Launch and your Pierce weapon to take them out. As you explore the tunnels ahead, you will fight more of these - do not let them get near and be careful of ones coming up from behind you. Examine the tape recorder on the ground to acquire Threshold Log 1. On the right of the area is a doorway blocked with junk.

Clear it, go through and Levitate up to a ledge to find a disused office with a loot container. Examine the folder on the desk to acquire the Balloon Supplement case file.

Turn into the tunnel at the end, ignore the tunnel to your immediate left, turn right at the bottom and go to the end of the passage you're in to find a loot container.

Backtrack a little, go past the entrance to the tunnel you just came down, turn left at the end and take the next right.

Drop down one level and go right to find a disused storage space with a loot container and a folder with the Picnic Basket Supplement case file. Go back up and drop down into the more open area, examine the tape recorder on the floor to acquire Threshold Log 2 and claim the loot container by the mannequins. If you are playing the Ultimate Edition, you can claim the Active Threshold Sublevel control point.

Before dropping down to the next level, prepare for a boss fight. You want Health Boost and Shield Boost in your personal slots and Headshot Boost and Damage Boost on your Pierce weapon form. When you're ready, step off the ledge and float down. Try and land on the rock platform in the arena. Jesse will comment and Mold-1 will burst out of the ground.

Mold-1 consists of two tentacles and the central head. The head is the creature's weakpoint - shoot it in the glowing central eye when the boss reveals it and maintain Shield when it doesn't. With enough Headshot Boost damage, you can kill it with a few well-placed shots, unlocking the Aggressive Growth trophy.

Return to Underhill

There's nothing to find in the boss cave so go through a doorway at the back where you'll be able to claim The Pit Control Point.

Grab the loot container and look in a corner of the room to find a tape recorder with Threshold Log 3. Fast travel to the Active Threshold and make your way to Dr. Underhill's lab to turn in the quest. She will tell you about Mold Hosts who have been sighted outside the Active Threshold, initiating the Mold Removal side mission. You will receive 4 Ability Points and an Untapped Potential for completing Old Growth.

Since you're in the area, there's no reason not to complete the new side mission.

Side Mission: Mold Removal

Eradicate the Mold Hosts around Parapsychology

From the Parapsychology Control Point, head south past the elevator and then west through the shifted corridor to Parakinesiology. Go up the stairs to find the first of the Mold Hosts.

Head through the door towards the Astral Exhibition and follow the path to the room where you trapped the Astral Spike earlier. The next Mold Host is on the left of the room.

Go through the other door and down the stairs towards the Extrasensory Lab. Drop down into Parapsychology and go through the door to the Extrasensory Lab. Go through the door on the left, up the steps and follow the path round to the ESP testing room where you'll find the final Mold Host for this area.

Eradicate the Mold Hosts in the Ritual Division

Fast travel to Ritual Division. Go through the nearby door towards the Ritual Office, up the lift and through the door to the office where you'll find the first Mold Host.

Return to the Control Point and head west into the Synchronicity Lab. Go up the left set of stairs to find the next Mold Host.

Return to the main area in Ritual Division and continue north towards Luck & Probability. Go into the men's toilet on the right to find the final Mold Host in this area.

Eradicate the Mold Hosts in Central Research

Fast travel to Central Research, go the balcony ledge and look over. The Hidden Location that you unlocked earlier now has a characteristic Mold growth on the window ledge. Float down there and take out the first Mold Host.

Use Levitation to get down to the Cafeteria (it's a lot quicker than the stairs) and go into the nearby women's toilets and kill the second Mold Host.

Go towards the Shelter under the stairs to Parapsychology, turn left and tuck into Lab 01 where you'll find the final, final Mold Host.

Speak with Dr. Underhill (again)

Use the nearby elevator to get back to Dr. Underhill's lab and turn in the quest to receive 2 Ability Points and some goodies.

Find the Prime Candidate Program

Fast travel to Logistics, go through the security checkpoint and up the stairs on the right to find a level 6 door.

Go through, down the stairs and kill the Hiss Guard at the bottom. Examine the folder in the security office to obtain the Mirror Supplement case file. This will also initiate the Self-Reflection side mission.

Continue a short distance to unlock the Prime Candidates Hotline entry (we haven't heard from Trench in a while). The door immediately ahead is locked so turn left. Continue round for a major firefight with Hiss. There's a Hiss Cluster on the lower level providing healing so get down there and eliminate it. The remainder should pose no significant problems by now.

Follow the left side of the upper level and when the floor twists upwards examine the folder on the floor to find the Bright Falls Supplement case file. Continue a little further along to find a loot container.

Side Mission: Langston's Runaways (Part 2)

Cleanse and contain the Mannequin

The last of the runaways is nearby. Follow the corridor round to find a Mannequin in a recess.

Approach it and it will disappear and replicate itself. Keep left as you go down the hallway and you'll find the one you're after at the end with three other mannequins.

Cleanse it to acquire the Mannequin Procedures case file.

Return to Langston (again)

You may want to wait until you cleanse the next Control Point rather than backtracking. Fast travel back to the Panopticon when it's convenient and talk to Langston to receive 3 Ability Points and some goodies

Head down to the lower level where you'll find a Shelter with a loot container inside. Go up the nearby ramp to an office area with another loot container and then go back to the upper level. Unlock the shortcut back to Security and go through the nearby door to Closed Cases. Examine the folder on the cabinet in the corner to acquire the Bright Falls Summary case file and the TV in the corner to watch You and Your Special Powers. OK, that one really is creepy.

Leave and go through the door marked P6. You will acquire the Ordinary Darling presentation as you enter. Examine the folder on the desk next to the computer to obtain the Dylan Faden Transcript. Examine the folder on a cabinet in the corner to obtain the P6 Victim Autopsy report.

Leave and go next door to P7 to update your objective.

Find the Ordinary AWE area

Look inside the tall cupboard to find the Candidate P7 outfit. Now you can dress just like Dylan! Personally, I prefer the gold suit.

Examine the nearby whiteboard for a comment from Jesse.

Examine the folder on the desk next to the whiteboard to read the Jesse Faden Movement Tracking report and play the tape recorder near the exit to hear Jesse Therapy: Slide Projector.

Leave through the other door and claim the loot container in the next room. Unlocking the other door will also unlock a short cut back to the Prime Candidate Program. Head up the stairs towards the Transit Corridor and kill the handful of Hiss at the top. Afterwards, examine a folder on the floor of an office on the right for Work Chat: Dead Dog. Return to the main corridor and go to the control room at the end where you'll find a loot container and then go through the door on the left to find another loot container. Examine the folder on the floor to acquire the Willow AWE Shipping Manifest.

Go across the hall, summon the lift and back away because there is a Hiss Charged inside that will blow itself up when the doors open. Ride the lift down, kill the Hiss Charged and Rangers at the bottom and cleanse the Transit Corridor Control Point.

If you haven't done so already, you may want to fast travel to the Panopticon Entrance to turn in Langston's Runaways. Return back here and go a short distance south to the NYC Subway sign. Look behind it to find a hole in the wall that you can Levitate to.

Float up to it and use Evade to crash through the glass and claim the Hidden Location. Inside are two loot containers and, on a chest of drawers, a folder with the Typewritten Page Supplement report.

Float back down and go through the level 6 door to find a Mold-infested room with two loot containers. Return to the Control Point and go south towards the Turntable to update your objectives.

Access the Ordinary AWE area by rotating the turntable tracks

Stand near the edge of the Turntable chamber and pick off the Hiss Elevated and Hiss Charged from your vantage point. Levitate over to the bridge, avoiding the Astral Spike in the area below and look across to spot a doorway marked "Bridge Operator".

Float across, go up a flight of stairs and through a door a storeroom where you'll find a loot container.

Go up two more flights of stairs to the control room. Examine the folder on the desk to read Work Chat: Teeth. Press the red button on the control panel to start the bridge rotating. Something stops it so go through the door and look on the wall above the Bridge Operator entrance to see some lumps of Mold on the wall.

Shoot them and the bridge will rotate some more and stop again. Levitate over to the bridge and look for some more lumps of Mold on the other wall.

Shoot these as well to update your objectives.

Continue towards the Ordinary AWE area

Follow the sign to the Ordinary AWE and claim the loot container from the room on the left. You should see that you are able to interact with something that you cannot see.

Break the wall to reveal a hidden area with another loot container.

When you're ready to proceed, cross to the other side and go down two flights of stairs. A Hiss Distorted will appear as you make your way through the corridor so keep a finger on your Shield button. When it's taken care of, look on the left side of the corridor for a storage area with a loot container. On the other side is an apparently inaccessible fenced off area. Just walk around to the side and knock a hole in the wall to claim the two loot containers inside.

Head up the stairs and through the doors at the top.

Launch a power core into the outlet on the right of the area and pick up the other power core nearby. Cross over to the other side and Launch the block into the outlet closest to the lift. Claim the loot container and then pick up a third power core from behind the barriers on the central track. Pick this up and launch it into the outlet at the end to power up the elevator. Go through the nearby door to claim a loot container and then take the elevator to update your objectives.

Search for the Slide Projector Object of Power

As you get out of the elevator, you will be assaulted by Hiss Charged, Hiss Rangers and a solitary Hiss Warped. After they've been taken care of search a side area on the right for a loot container and a folder on the floor with the Airplane Evacuation Order report.

Go down the stairs to the security checkpoint and kill the solitary Hiss Guard in the control room. Examine the folder on the console to obtain the Ordinary AWE Stage 1.A research and then hit the nearby switch to open the security gate. Turn right down the corridor and play the tape recorder on the cabinet to acquire America Overnight Ep. 349. Go into the nearby office and examine the folder on the cabinet to acquire the Ordinary Summary case file and approach the projection screen to view the Altered World Events Darling Presentation. Finally, examine the folder next to the whiteboard to obtain the Ordinary AWE Stage 4.A research.

Continue to follow the signs for the Ordinary AWE, kill a group of Hiss Rangers and Cleanse the Ordinary AWE Control Point.

Backtrack a short distance and examine the folder on the floor to acquire the Ordinary AWE Stage 2 research. Play the tape recorder on a nearby cabinet to hear Dylan Evaluation.

Go down the stairs and through the door to a control room. Climb up to read the folder on the tall cabinet just inside the door to obtain the Ordinary AWE Stage 4.B research. Examine the folder by the pneumatic tubes to acquire Ordinary AWE Stage 1.B. Finally, hit the red button to reveal a reconstruction of the town of Ordinary.

Go down and stick to the right side of the area to find a table with a folder containing the Ordinary AWE Stage 3 research. Approach the stairs on the other side of the chamber and Hiss will invade the room. The main enemy is a very tough named Hiss Trooper but be careful of the Hiss Charged as well. When the area is clear, the lovely model of Ordinary is unlikely to have emerged unscathed but at least you can leave the room.

Go through the previously blocked door and up the stairs towards the Ordinary Dump Site. Play the tape recorder at the top of the stairs to acquire Jesse Therapy: Polaris. Claim the loot container in the next office along and continue to a third where you'll find a folder containing the Ordinary Supplement case file on the floor.

Follow the path and go through the doors at the end of the corridor to a control room overlooking the Ordinary Dump. Examine the folder by the pneumatic tubes to read the Dump Cessation of Work Order. Go through the double doors and continue up the stairs to find another folder containing the Globe Supplement case file.

Go towards the back of the chamber to trigger a large scale hiss invasion. Your first priority is the Hiss Cluster below that will otherwise make your job impossible. Stay elevated to keep on top of things. After you've eliminated a handful of Hiss Charged, you will facing an elite Hiss Elevated. An upgraded Pierce should take care of him. There's also a Hiss Warped who poses a danger while a large number of Hiss Charged will make their way up the stairs. When all enemies are defeated, your objectives will update.

Search Darling's Lab for the Slide Projector

Grab the loot container in the top left corner of the upper walkways and go down to the dump site itself. There's a loot container behind the mobile lab and another next to a control panel on the far side. While you're here, you may as well open the door to the Turntable.

In the middle if the dump is a wrecked car. If you tear the bloody doors off you can acquire the Album Cover.

When you've finished exploring, go into the mobile lab. Grab the contents of the loot container and then interact with the computer on the desk to view a message from Dr. Darling in which you will learn where the Slide Projector has been taken to.

This will complete the mission, giving you 3 Ability Points, the Face of the Enemy trophy, a new Hotline entry, Dissent, and a new Darling presentation, Dylan Faden.

Ultimate Edition
You can play the AWE expansion at this time if you like.
