We stayed at Outrigger on the Beach in Waikiki for 10 nights in November 2019. The location is fantastic, with access directly to the beach, the hotel itself was nice but looks very “tired”, I do not think it is 4.5 stars, more 3,5. The rooms are spacious and clean, we had a partial ocean view, and it was great, we could see the beach from our bed, so do not pay extra $100 USD for corny front view. The bed was king size and very comfortable, the furniture definetely need upgrading. The swimming pool was too small considering the huge hotel and the sun beds were only available if you turn up really early. The hotel has only 1 restaurant with access from the ground floor, and from the hotel, the name was “Duke Bear-foot” or something,, There were always people queuing up to get in so we only only went there once for lunch and once for breakfast. Considering the central location, there are plenty of other choices for breakfast and dining outside the hotel. The food in the restaurant was so so, it is difficult to find a healthy meal as everywhere in Hawaii, mostly burgers and the meals are huge good for sharing. Some of the meals were good, try the pork ribs and fish & chips, The service at the hotel was good, the most of the staff at the lobby wad helpful and we had 5 days of resorts fee taken off our bill as they had a wifi problems. There are plenty of shops at the ground level of the hotel to wonder around, and buy alcohol from to take to the room. The staff at the “Activities” desk was really helpful, explained every detail about our chosen trips to the Pearl Habour and Luau show, worth doing, Overall we enjoyed our stay, but had regrets that did not stay at the hotel next door as we end up going there for pre dinner drinks as we loved the courtyard with sunset views, music and no need to queue up to get in.
Enjoy your stay!

We recently returned home from our 23 night vacation at this great resort. You will not find a much better hotel for location, great customer service that makes you feel like part of the family, and value for the money. We had a few requests upon check in that were met each and every day. Early morning room cleaning and nightly turn down were two of our requests and they happily provided them. The staff is friendly and calls you by name on numerous occasions daily when they see you around the property. The pool and pool staff are amazing and you are steps from there to the ocean as well. This is a must stay location in our minds and we are already booked for next February.

Central to everything Waikiki and on the beach. I made reservations through a 3rd party and the hotel didn’t have the oceanfront king that I booked available. It was probably the booking site’s issue. The hotel tried to accommodate me upon check in on a lower floor but I stuck with the 15th floor oceanfront double at their advice, so glad I did. I appreciate that they contacted me the next day to offer a king room if I wanted. If you want the views in my pictures you’ll want an oceanfront on a high level preferably. The sound of the waves is amazing. I enjoyed my balcony a lot. The pool attendants did a great job keeping the area clean and asking folks to practice safety during the pandemic. Housekeeping was also very good and delivered personable service. I’ve stayed at this hotel more than once over decades and it is showing her age but the location is tops if you want to be in Waikiki. That’s what you’re paying for and good service.

This hotel is in a great location on Waikiki beach & also has a shuttle to locations such as Diamond Head albeit not that frequently. Staff were pleasant & helpful & rooms were a good size & clean. The only issue we had was being offered an upgrade. Be careful what you book regarding a sea view. There’s a partial sea view , a sea view & an ocean front. We had booked a partial sea view & were offered an upgrade to sea view at $50 extra per night. However we subsequently found out that the difference should have been an extra $17 pn but that due to an excellent Expedia rate the hotel had charged us more. To be fair they did agree to honour the $17 pn once my husband had spoken to them. The pool although beach front is tiny & towels are complimentary. We had room 821 & the ocean view was lovely. Dukes restaurant is below the hotel & is busy & noisy but this didn’t detract from our stay. Definitely recommended.

As soon as I stepped foot in front of the hotel, I knew I was going to have an awesome stay. The hotel is beautiful and has a open feel with connections between the beach and the shops right around it. The location itself was a great reason to stay here since there was Dukes (an awesome restaurant created because of a local surfer who first popularized the sport) and a central location for shopping as well as other delicious restaurants. The hotel staff was super friendly and they were consistent in cleaning the bedrooms daily if you desired that. The views were also beautiful considering they were overlooking Waikiki beach (literally right outside) and Diamond head! Side note: there are also services allowing you to rent paddle boards, surfboards, and even go on a catamaran to see diamond Head from a different point of view. I enjoyed my stay as the beds were also super comfy. 10/10 would stay here again and recommend it to everyone that I know, cheers!

With 123 hotels in Waikiki, only 7 are right on the beach. Outrigger Waikiki is located between the most prestigious properties directly on the most famous beach in the world. We had an ocean view room (1021) which was huge with authentic Hawaiian themed furniture in very good condition contrary to what others have reported. Calling this room "ocean view" is kind of a stretch, as you are not in direct view of the ocean but along the side near the front of the hotel. Good view, but not completely "ocean view". The whole staff, from bell boys to front desk to maids are extremely well trained in hospitality in my opinion. As in all hotels, lounge chairs at the pool are saved by inconsiderate hogs very early and it's tough to secure a spot. I won't pay the big bucks to rent an umbrella and chair on the beach with the cash I laid out for the ridiculous resort fee. We got two bottles of water and a trolley ride daily for $35. Make sure you get a reservation and eat at Duke's Canoe Club. All three meals are great and the waitstaff is absolutely top notch. The Hula Grill upstairs is very good, as well. Across the street is the International Market Place with several high-end shops and restaurants. Many other restaurants are within a short walk in the Royal Hawaiian Center next door and on Lewers St. All Waikiki hotels are very expensive, but if you're committed to a vacation here...stay at the Outrigger.

This was my first time at Outrigger Waikiki Beach and even my first Outrigger experience in general!
I’ve chosen it because of its location and because of positive feedback given by friends.

From the beginning of my stay (22 nights) I felt very welcome and the hotel team is SUPER friendly and has this special “Aloha spirit”.
Yes, the hotel is pretty old and even the rooms are not state of the art, but believe it or not, I liked my room very much, because the size (ocean view room, with King size bed) was perfect for me and my long term stay.

Beside the old fashioned interior the room was kept VERY clean and the bathroom was big enough, even with kind of an open wardrobe and space for 3 suitcases.

The Lanai (Hawaiian name for balcony) was small, but furnished with one table and two comfortable chairs.

Laying in bed with closed (!) balcony slide door you can hear the heavy ocean waves which I really enjoyed it, because it made me sleeping and dreaming heavenly!

The bed at Outrigger Waikiki Beach was extremely comfortable, covered with white fine cotton linen and 4 fluffy pillows.

Cleaning was done daily and the whole house keeping team did every day a phenomenal job. High standard cleaning and service, including replacing bottles of water and coffee pads. Loved it!!

Extra benefit: the hotel has Dukes downstairs and this restaurant chain is a “must place to visit” when you’re on O’ahu or in Maui. The food and the drinks are very delightful and the famous dessert “Hula Pie” you must try and share (not possible for one person 😉)!

The hotel has front row beach access, but complementary deck chairs are only available at the pool, which is always kept clean of the Outrigger pool attendants (very friendly guys and long term employees).

In general I give 5 stars because of the PRIME Waikiki location and the staff made my stay just perfect, even knowing the hardware of the hotel needs to be refurbished. But as the rooms kept very clean and the furniture has this special Polynesian touch, I still give my highest ranking!

Mahalo Outrigger Waikiki Beach team and see you soon again!

We just spent six nights at the Outrigger Beach Resort and really were pleased with our choice. We booked air/shuttle/hotel through Costco Travel and chose a club level partial view room for our family of four. We were most pleased with the hotel’s location, excellent customer service, room accommodations and Voyager 47 club perks.

If you want to stay on Waikiki, the Outrigger seems to have it all. We walked through several neighboring properties and were glad we chose Outrigger Beach. We were pleased with the partial view and even with two teens and two adults, we had room to unpack and make ourselves at home in the room.

Voyager 47 benefits are worth it - breakfast had great variety and so many hot options to fill my always hungry teenage son. Coffee was good and the view during meals was beautiful. We took advantage of the evening apps & drinks as well.

Duke’s was a special treat we enjoyed on our last night. Their happy hour was fun, live music and drink specials.

We utilized the Waikiki shuttle to get to Diamond Head - convenient! And the concierge helped us with city bus to snorkeling, booking our USS Arizona/city tour and even giving us some tips for our days with a rental car.

Truly loved everything about our stay from the warm welcome, fireworks on New Years Eve, white powdery sand at the beach and the hustling nightlife of a beautiful shopping district just outside the hotel’s doors. Well done!

Stayed at Outrigger Resort during my first visit to Oahu Hawaii. My stay at Outrigger was very disappointing and frustrating. It started with what I thought was a friendly upgrade from city view to a partial Oceanview room only to be waken up often during the night by the air conditioner compressor on the same floor as my room right next to my half balcony door. No view of the ocean due to the many palm trees obstructing the view. Next, no reservations at the restaurants in the Resort. Dukes was filled with hours of waiting for walk ins. Then the Resort did not offer umbrellas in their pool area so you had to get in line before the pool gate opened at 9AM to get chairs in the shade only to be told later in the day that certain areas of the pool would close early. Who closes areas of the pool at 3:45 in the afternoon. They closed areas of the pool to put up tables for Dukes Restaurant or a wedding event. The pool closed ay 6 & 7PM nightly so they could set up dinner tables for Dukes. I thought I was paying a lot of money for a Great first time experience however, Outrigger Resort lessened my experience with frustration. I will give it to housekeeping who came everyday to clean and leave two bottles of water. Oh and the refrigerator in your room shuts off after 2 hours and doesn't turn back on until you hit the button and/or unplug it to reset it. I lost food because of that and couldn't have a cold bottle of water when I returned to my room. If you were gone from your room for hours, too bad! Check out the neighboring resorts first if you don't want to be frustrated during your stay in Oahu.

Stayed here in early August. The property was pretty full but we still were able to enjoy the pool and beach. In the mornings we did tours since the weather is cooler by the time we returned to the hotel we were able to get chairs at the pool. We usually shared 2 chairs between 4 people. If you want to lounge at the pool all day space could be an issue but staff turned over empty chairs with towels left behind. Beach was crowded but we always found a spot. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of Waikiki Beach. One negative if you are a light sleeper is the sound proofing. The street performers sounded like they were performing right on our balcony. We didn't mind since it's part of the vibe of staying in Waikiki Beach. The elevators were also a down side. At the time we were there it was suppossed to be 4 people to each elevator but when you scanned your key card it took multiple cards so everyone would just get on the same elevator. The elevator worked on the honor system which to no fault of the hotel was challenged by many of the visitors who did not wait their turn. Mon - Wed the elevator ettiquette was pretty good by the weekend it cut throat. I don't blame the hotel this was the guests issue. The rooms are slightly dated but good sized and we did not spend much time in the room since there is so much too do in the area. Housekeeping was great they serviced the rooms so quickly we were amazed. Would highly recommend the hotel. Would give the location 5 stars but because of the soundproofing and dated rooms I give it an overall 4 stars.
