At least it was on our trip, and we saw several fjords in central Norway. I urge you to take the day long cruise up the Geirangerfjord to the small town of Geiranger. It is 3 hours one way but totally worth it and the narration was almost as good as the scenery. While it was cold when we visited in April, the mountain peaks were covered in snow making it extra scenic.

Undoubtedly beautiful waterfall (or waterfalls) but due to it being late summer and a lack of rain they were not flowing a great deal. I’m pleased I got to see them as our ship passed, but I’m also pleased I didn’t pay hundreds of pounds to see them.

We visited this viewpoint as part of a day long cruise from Ålesund to Geiranger. The cruise company had a tour bus waiting g for us at the dock to take us up the long, narrow winding road. The drive up was almost as fun as the viewpoint. Great views of the end of the fjord and the snow capped mountains lining the fjord. There is a great walk down to the Norsk center and museum which was beautiful as well.

This is definitely worth a visit if you like a reasonable, but not too difficult, hike to a nice feature. The waterfall is great and you can walk just behind it. From the waterfront at Geiranger you follow the path up to the Flydalsjuvet first (the viewpoint on the snakey road above the town). Don’t turn right on the final high road towards the Utiksikten Hotel/viewpoint but left towards Hole and Westeras Farm. This is about half way. The paths are then well marked towards the Storesetterfossen. Recommended.

This hike was the highlight of our visit to Geiranger. We took a fjord tour that stopped at Skagefla and hiked up for an hour. The hike back to almost an hour because the trail became wet and muddy and it was very slow going. This is a difficult hike. The views at the top were outstanding and we had a picnic lunch and then hiked back to trail head and waited for the boat. The walk back to Geiranger was an additional 8 km and we did not choose to do that.

Definitely a great place to visit. You want walk or take a Toor in the center of the town. The landscape are really outstanding and you really can be in touch with the nature.

Also known as the Suitor who according to legend asked the seven sisters to marry him, but was turned down by each of them. Located opposite Geiranger fjord to the Seven Sisters, this was the only one you could see in early April as the sisters were sleeping (still frozen in ice.)

I had read about this place on the Internet, and I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. The road itself to get to the place was breathtaking, and once we got there we had an even more amazing view over the valley far below. The food was excellent, we had salmon and wafels. Everything delicious, and served with a smile. As an extra bonus, two aeroplanes came right above us and continued down towards the fyord. And don't forget to see the lamas! Wonderful place, we would like to come back some day.

Such an amazing trail! I began hiking with friends but as it became steep I continued alone. There were beautiful views of the fjord and fewer people along this route than others. The livestock were comfortable with us passing (for the most part) and there were ropes along the way where needed.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a more challenging hike in the Geiranger fjord. We heard about the rhike to Storseterfossen, but we wanted the hike to fill the day. So we found information about the Laushornet on the internet (not much, but enough) and decided to walk this hike (I think this hike took us around 3/3,5 hours up and 2 hours down).
The hike starts at Westeras and first you follow the same trail as to the Storseterfossen (so we first went there before went further). If you are at the waterfall the trail splits up, and this is where the difficult part starts.
The hike was so amazing and awesome, absolutely stunning. The view on the top was amazing and the feeling that we made it was the best we had. But one thing that is most important to say is that it is very steep. VERY VERY steep! You go up around 1100m (from Westeras). The walk is really heavy, and good climbing shoes and water are really necessary! Also, if it is raining, it will be very difficult to make the climb, because I am almost for sure you will slip away. Another important thing to know is that you have to go true a river. That’s very awesome, but your shoes will get wet (so also a reason to wear climbing shoes).
Also; if you think you see the top.. it is not true. The top is easy to notice because of the big pile of stones and is after you walked true a rocky landscape and probably even snow. The hike is heavy, and you will think you are there maybe a couple of times.. but if you are there eventually you really will be stunned! You have such an amazing view on the Geiranger fjord! So if you are a little bit trained, and like to be challenged, you really have to choose this hike!

    The Korsmyra is a revelation.
As you drive in from the North, having taken a twenty minute stop at the heartbreakingly beautiful Eidsvatnet lake, Please remember to stop there and get out of the car and walk walk walk walk.,Then and only then may you drive up through the barren Indreeidsdalen valley and up the last hilly stretch to the Korsmyra.
Korsmyra means the flat area between mountain and valley,, between the Mountain and the magnificent Geiranger fjord valley. The car park is on the South side of the main road so get your boats on,a good warm jacket adn stroill around up here at 640 metres above sea level. (2000 feet ) .
The valley to the east of you ,the Gråsteindalen valley, is accessable by road ,by foot, and of course by local skiers and snow shoe shodded wanderers in the winter .

If you come here in May-October please go to the south western top of the parking spot and look to your right, across the main road. You will see a steep path which will lead you out along the ridge and give you a peaceful and incredible view of the Geiranger fjord and the valley, with the magnificent Mount Dalsnibba throning in the centre of the eastern valley.. Hiking boots are a must, and no noise,no coaches,no cars will be your reward. Enjoy !!

A nice and easy hike of an hour or so from the parking place on the top of the Ørnevegen to Møllsvatnet. The path is very well signposted. Already after the first hundred meters you are away from the crowds dwelling on the parking space (that has a very nice view indeed) and you enter the peacefulness of nature. The walk is easy to do. You may choose to return on the other side of the river. This is also signposted. I liked it as this over a mountain footpath.

Amazing tour, stunning views, great food and really friendly staff. Except for the cruise, you also get to see the museum and, what was the highlight of the trip, the bus ride to the view point. I recommend to everyone!
