Kim Carnes was born in Los Angeles and released her debut album in 1971 on Amos Records. Rest On Me was produced by Jimmy Bowen . Her second album released in 1975 produced her first hit single. You're A Part Of Me was a number 32 hit in 1976 on the adult contempoary chart. The album was produced by Mentor Williams.
Gypsy Honeymoon was released in 1993 and contains 15 tracks. The album runs for just under 60 minutes and contains three new songs.
The first three songs here - Chain Letter, Gypsy Honeymoon and Don't Cry Now - are the new songs. Gypsy honeymoon was released as a single.
We then have three songs from the 1981 album Mistaken Identity. Still Hold On , Bette Davis Eyes and the title song.
More Love is from her fifth studio album Romance Dance. More Love was released in June 1980 and became her first solo top 10 hit.
The collection also includes her 1980 duet with Kenny Rogers - Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer . This song is from Kenny Rogers album Gideon and was a number 3 country hit. All the songs on the Gideon album were written by Kim and her husband Dave Ellingson.
Track eight is Thrill Of The Grill which is from the 1982 album Voyeur.
Track nine is It Hurts So Bad which was a number 56 hit in 1979 and is from the St.Vincents Court album.
Track 11 is Rough Edges which is from the 1985 Barking At Airplanes album as is Crazy In The Night.
Track 12 is I'll Be Here Where The Heart Is which is from 1983s Cafe Racers album.This song appears on the soundtrack album to the film Flashdance.
The last two tracks here are both duets. Make No Mistake He's Mine is a 1984 duet with B. Streisand and the last track You're A Part Of Me is from 1978 and is a duet with Gene Cotton.
This is an excellent mix of songs by Kim Carnes as it includes both new songs plus some of her biggest hits. Well worth a listen.

There are several Kim Carnes' collections available, so knowing which one to go for can be a bit of a challenge. My advice, though, would be to plump for this one. Kim is a highly talented lady - a great songwriter, with a gritty, raspy, soulful voice. Sadly, most collections focus on her early 80s hits, but in so doing really only display one bit of Kim's career - and to my mind, not the best but rather when the demands of the record company and 80s styling put New Wave/dance/electronica to the fore. This collection is hand-picked by Kim (with some brief notes to each track), but is wider ranging, and overall much more acoustic, country-influenced rock. Unusually, the three openers are all new songs, but all of great quality. The best of the rest include "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer" her exquisite duet with Kenny Rogers, her brilliant soulful take on The Miracles' "More Love", the duet with Gene Cotton "You're A Part Of Me" which gave Kim her earliest chart action, but really there is not a dud here at all. Have you noticed that I have not even mentioned "Bette Davis Eyes", which of course is a total classic in it's own right? Snap this up and enjoy the real under-rated talent of Ms. Carnes. Highly Recommended!

Der Titelsong wurde von ihr übrigens 1991 bereits für ihr "Checkin' out the ghosts" Album (nur in Japan erschienen) eingesungen. Die 91er Version ist um einiges besser als auf dieser Compilation, aber zwei Versionen in so kurzen Abständen aufzunehmen erscheint ohnehin merkwürdig. Was soll's, diese Zusammenstellung bietet verschiedene musikalische Eindrücke der Sängerin aus drei Dekaden!
