New images from The Umbrella Academy season 4 offer a closer glimpse at the returning Hargreeves siblings. Serving as the final outing for Netflix’s hit superhero comedy, the events of The Umbrella Academy season 4 will pick up after the Hargreeves family saved the universe from the all-devouring Kugelblitz and found themselves stranded in a new timeline. With the universe reset anew thanks to the interdimensional machine reprogrammed by Sir Reginald, the members of the Umbrella Academy also find themselves healed from their wounds but are now unable to use their powers.

As the Umbrella Academy season 4 release date draws closer, Entertainment Weekly has shared two new photos of the returning Hargreeves siblings. Check them out below:

In the first image, gathered on the side of a road beside an old, beat-up van named “Wanda” belonging to Diego (David Castañeda), the siblings appear to be confronting Lila (Rita Arya). Interestingly, the pink mask worn by the time-traveling assassin Cha-Cha in season 1 is also strewn on the roadside along with other miscellaneous items. Another image focuses on Viktor (Elliot Page) looking around in shock.

Is The Umbrella Academy Teasing The Return Of Mary J. Blige’s Cha-Cha?

Cha-Cha Remains One Of The Show's Most Memorable Villains

With Hazel previously returning to guest star in season 2, it seems only fitting that Blige’s character be given the same opportunity to return for one final outing.

While the members of the Umbrella Academy have faced an interesting and eclectic assortment of villains over previous seasons, the Commission agents Hazel (Cameron Britton) and Cha-Cha (Mary J. Blige) remain two of the show’s most memorable. Even though Hazel would later defect from the Commission and come to aid the Umbrella Academy in their attempts to prevent multiple apocalypses, Cha-Cha remained steadfast in her mission to kill Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) until her own untimely death in the season 1 finale.

However, not only did Cha-Cha’s original death occur during an apocalypse that was later averted, but Sir Reginald’s more recent universe reset has seemingly erased that original timeline altogether. As such, it is possible that The Umbrella Academy season 4 could see the Hargreeves facing several of their previous adversaries, including the time-traveling Cha Cha. With Hazel previously returning to guest star in season 2, it seems only fitting that Blige’s character be given the same opportunity to return for one final outing.

7 Umbrella Academy Characters We Hope Season 4 Doesn't Forget About

With The Umbrella Academy season 4 being the last installment of the series, the show needs to ensure that some characters aren't forgotten about.

Moreover, with the Hargreeves suddenly finding themselves bereft of their unique abilities, a new showdown with Cha-Cha would raise the stakes considerably. While it is possible that Cha-Cha may never actually appear in person, and the mask may only be a subtle Easter egg for keen-eyed fans, viewers have long been crying out for her character’s return. With The Umbrella Academy season 4 serving to wrap up the entire series, bringing back one of the show’s oldest villains would be the perfect way to bring the story to a close.

The Umbrella Academy season 4 arrives on Netflix on August 8.
