Syfy's Chucky series returned for its third season on October 4th, bringing with it the perfect blend of humor, campiness, and violence that fans of the original franchise have come to love. This horror series' first episodes were a hit, and the success only continued to grow as 4.5 million viewers tuned into the Season 2 premiere.

Season 3 consists of eight episodes in total, four releasing in 2023 and four set to debut in 2024. Don Mancini is the mastermind behind this modern take on the sadistic little doll that picks up where the seventh movie, Curse of Chucky, left off and completely omits the 2019 remake.

The TV adaptation of this horror classic meshes original characters with fresh faces and adds new life to the tired storyline. The newest season finds Chucky targeting a new family, but this time, he's heading to the White House. Here's a guide to the cast and characters of Chucky to help get you up to speed for new episodes.

Brad Dourif as Chucky/Charles Lee Ray

USA Network

The name Brad Dourif has become synonymous with the Child's Play film franchise and the character Charles Lee Ray. Viewers are introduced to Dourif as Charles Lee Ray from the opening scene of the 1988 movie, where the criminal is on the run from Detective Norris. The two end up in a toy store before Charles is shot and performs a voodoo ritual that transfers his soul into a Good Guy doll.

This series of events created the pint-size serial killer and inspired eight movies, a video game, and now the series. Dourif stars as Charles Lee Ray and Chucky's voice in every franchise installment except the 2019 remake from Lars Klevberg.

While the Chucky character and his motives have stayed fairly consistent over the years, there are some differences between the movies and the TV series. Child's Play and its sequels keep a lot of Chucky/Charles' backstory a mystery, focusing more on his current state in the doll. The series gives viewers a bit more information on his origin and shows Charles being dark and sadistic in his childhood. The newest season of Chucky has the killer doll looking to bring chaos to the White House by getting close to the President's young son, Henry.

Dourif is no stranger to the horror genre outside his role of Chucky and has starred in movies like The Exorcist III, Alien Resurrection, and Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. He also played Billy Bibbit in the 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, for which he took home a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year.

Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler

Syfy/USA Network

Jake Wheeler is one of the main protagonists of the series and the character who buys the Good Guy doll inhabited by Ray's spirit in Season 1. He's a loner at his high school, lives with his alcoholic father, and is struggling to cope with his mother's death.

He finds Chucky at a garage sale and unknowingly purchases the possessed doll to use for parts in a sculpture. This decision sparks a downward spiral of violence and murder as Jake's life is turned upside down, and his entire family is murdered. The newest season follows Jake and his friends as they set off to find Chucky in an effort to end his reign of terror.

Zackary Arthur plays Jake Wheeler in Chucky through all three seasons. Arthur is best known for his work in the Amazon series Transparent and the 2016 science fiction movie The 5th Wave. In 2022, his role as Jake in Chucky earned him a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Network or Cable Television Series.

Devon Sawa as James Collins

Syfy / USA

One actor fans are happy to see returning is Devon Sawa, who is playing the President of the US, James Collins. It's Collins' young son who becomes bonded to his ginger-haired doll named Joseph. Unfortunately for Joseph and the first family, Joseph is inhabited by the evil spirit of Charles Lee Ray and manages to make his way right into the Oval Office. It doesn't take long for the bloodshed to start at the White House, raising questions about Chucky's motive this season and whether Sawa's high-profile character will make it out alive.

However, some viewers may be confused seeing Sawa in new episodes after his characters were killed off in both previous seasons. In Season 1, he played twins Logan and Lucas Wheeler, one murdered by Chucky and the other by his own son. Season 2 saw Sawa as Father Bryce, who is the headmaster of a Catholic school. Outside of Chucky, Sawa is known for his roles in Final Destination, Casper, and Little Giants.

Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans

Björgvin Arnarson appears in Chucky as Devon Evans, Jake's boyfriend and a huge true-crime fan. Devon's role is smaller at the beginning of the show, but as the story and his relationship with Jake develops, the character becomes more involved with Chucky.

He ends up losing his mother, is sent to Incarnate Lord with Jake, and eventually lives with his former teacher, Ms. Fairchild, by the end of Season 2. The new episodes have Devon reconnecting with his podcast, where he can share his traumatic experiences with his listeners.

Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine

Syfy / USA

Another character from the original film series reprising their role in Syfy's show is Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, Charles Lee Ray's former girlfriend who first appeared in Bride of Chucky. Their history is rocky, with the two constantly fighting and murdering countless people during their time together. At one point, Tiffany's spirit was transferred into a doll, but in Seed of Chucky, she was able to possess Jennifer Tilly's body.

Tiffany's spent years pretending to be the actress, though her time in the Chucky series shows she's as vicious as ever. Season 2 ends with Tiffany changing her appearance to avoid being spotted, as Jennifer Tilly is wanted for murder, and coming face to face with Chucky.

Tilly is a key part of the Chucky franchise, and her impressive work as Tiffany earned her several awards. She won Best Actress at the 1999 Saturn Awards for her role in Bride of Chucky and also won Best Guest-Starring Performance at the Saturn Awards for Chucky.

Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross

Syfy/USA Network

Alyvia Alyn Lind stars in Chucky as Lexy Cross, a self-absorbed, mean character who is dating Jake's cousin, Junior, and one of Jake's biggest bullies. She's nasty to everyone around her, though this is what ultimately causes Chucky to try and kill her. Lexy ends up changing her ways and becoming friends with Jake and Devon.

The stress of the first season's events causes her to spiral out of control, and she ends up in rehab for her addiction issues. At the end of Season 2, Lexy, Devon, and Jake are sent to live with Ms. Fairchild, and she is determined to find her sister, Caroline.

Alyvia Alyn Lind is known best for appearing in over 200 episodes of The Young and The Restless as Faith Newman. Lind has also starred in the movie Overboard as Olivia.

Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce

Syfy / USA

Fiona Dourif is the daughter of Brad Dourif, so it makes sense that she's so involved with the Chucky franchise. She first appeared in Curse of Chucky as Nica, where after surviving his murder spree, she is framed for the crimes. In the next movie, Cult of Chucky, Nica is in a psychiatric hospital and meets Tiffany and learns about her connection to Chucky.

He ends up possessing her and curing her paralysis, but this leaves her only able to control her body for brief periods at a time. If that wasn't bad enough, Tiffany ends up cutting off her limbs and holding her captive for a year. Will Nica finally get revenge on Chucky and Tiffany in Season 3?

Dourif has starred in BBC America's Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and the miniseries When We Rise. She also appeared in series like The Blacklist and The Purge.

Annie M. Briggs as Rachel Fairchild

Syfy/USA Network

Annie M. Briggs plays Rachel Fairchild in Chucky, Jake's former biology teacher at Perry Middle School, who briefly takes possession of the Chucky doll during Season 1. She truly cares about her students and ends up taking custody of Jake, Devon, and Lexy after they are left with no family from the murders.

Unfortunately for Rachel, her involvement causes the police to charge her with murder at one point in the show, though her innocence is proven when more crimes are committed while she is behind bars. It's unclear what Season 3 holds for her character, but as long as she's helping Jake and Lexy, she's in the path of Chucky's rage.

Briggs has appeared in numerous theater productions, including Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet and Conrad in Much Ado About Nothing. Her acting credits include the LGBTQ+ series Carmilla and the 2017 comedy horror film The Carmilla Movie.

Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay

Alex Vincent in Chucky.
Syfy / USA

Andy Barclay, played by Alex Vincent, is another character from the franchise's original 1988 movie Child's Play who made a return to the TV series. Andy was just six years old when his mother bought him a Good Guys doll in a back alley, making him the first official owner of Chucky.

The character appeared in the first three movies and 2013's Curse of Chucky, determined to stop Charles Lee Ray, going as far as keeping Chucky's decapitated head to torture him. The Chucky series follows Andy as he leaves the psychiatric hospital and makes it his mission to track down Chucky and end him once and for all.

Vincent has been dedicated to the franchise for roughly 35 years, but he has starred in a few other movies like Wait Until Spring, Bandini, On the Ropes, and Descending. It's unclear whether he will return for Season 3 of Chucky, yet there is room to expand on his character's future now that Chucky has made his return.
