Nestled close to the convention center and the Riverwalk, the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk is commended for its prime location, which guests find ideal for both work and sightseeing. The hotel's cleanliness and service are generally celebrated, with numerous guests enjoying spotless rooms and commendable staff attention. However, some visitors have encountered inconsistencies in housekeeping and have been less impressed with the additional cost of amenities like parking and Wi-Fi. While the atmosphere is perceived as inviting, opinions on value for money and room conditions show a mix of satisfaction and concern.

Absolutely loved how friendly and exceptional the entire staff was! From the front desk to the Bar Rojo, everyone made it such a welcoming experience we didn’t want to leave! It was very obvious they were trained well but went above & beyond to make it a wonderful experience!!

I was very pleased with the ease and convenience of staying at the Grand Hyatt while attending a two day volleyball tournament that was held at the convention center. The rooms were nice, and we were able to get 2 adjoining rooms (2 doubles + 1 King) which worked well for our family. An associate was able to get a room with 1 Q and 1 Db bed for her family of 3, so there are various options and configurations available. One of our friends ordered room service and the food was prepared by Ruth Cris Steakhouse. I wish I had tried it. Lots of congestion at the elevator banks, but we only had to wait a few extra minutes. There is new security so you have to scan your room key to gain access to a non-public floors. The valet was fast, and you could text in advance to request your car. Parking is pricy ($33 self park & $43 valet) but that is the norm in a metro/tourist area like the Riverwalk. We would stay again if given the option, especially when given a group convention rate.

The best thing about this hotel is that it’s located at the River Walk. My husband and I enjoyed just going out of the hotel and walking at the river walk to all the other food and bar places. The hotel lobby is huge, bright and welcoming. The hotel has valet parking with a fee of $49 plus taxes. The room is as what I’m used to - comfortable bed, modern design, clean room and clean fresh sheets. I think the room price reflects more of the location. Out room had a great view of the city and I can also see the river walk. The hotel has the Bar Rojo which my husband and I liked because the bartender really knows how to make the drinks. Hubby ordered a White Russian, then Spicy Bloody Mary, while I had a Mojito and a Tequila Sunset. We gave it a 4 star rating because housekeeping knocked on our room at 8:30am!!!! Check out is at 11am. Hubby and I wanted to sleep a little longer but because of the 8:30am knock, our sleep was interrupted. We told the front desk about it when we checked out. The nice gentleman said that they (housekeeping) should knock on the doors that early. His face seemed genuine, but I’m not sure. I hope this can be addressed because people just don’t check out here because it’s a nice hotel with a great location, people wanted to have a good night (uninterrupted) sleep.

We booked our stay at the Grand Hyatt because of an event at the convention center, which is essentially connected to and part of the hotel. There were good things and bad, but for $300 a night, the bad things really stood out.

We checked in and upon arriving at our room, found it mostly clean, but with a small refrigerator that contained items from the previous guests.

The bedding was excellent, but like some hotels today this one decided every bathroom needs a motion sensor. Sure, it's smart to save electricity, but that would be turning the light OFF when there is no motion. Instead, the feature also meant all the bathroom lights also turn ON when someone goes in. Add in that the bed was oriented to be less than 8 feet from the bathroom lights with a clear line of sight from the vanity lights to one half of the bed, and you get an effect when a couple stays the night, if either gets up in the night to use the bathroom, all the lights in the bathroom come on and the bed is flooded with direct bright light. This made for one of the worst nights of sleep ever.

The front desk's response when we asked how to disable the auto-on lights? "We'll send up a maintenance guy to disable the light, but it'll mean the lights stays off." They also blamed the design on Hyatt management.

This is not what you pay $300/night for.

The housekeeping came only one of the four days days we stayed, and forgot to restock the coffee machine or leave clean water glasses. There was no bath mat in the bathroom when we arrived, and only after housekeeping came the 3rd day did they leave us one.

The list goes on. This hotel had very nice furnishings, but very pedestrian services. The restaurants are great, but the service was average.

If this had been $150/night, or even $200, we might have expected less, but for $300/night, you should get a room without floodlights from the vanity onto the bed at 3am. You should get coffee in the coffeemaker. Housekeeping should leave a bath mat. The fridge should be clean and empty when you arrive. And most of all, the front desk should be able to solve problems, not punt them onto nebulous "Hyatt management."

This hotel has a prime location, right on the Riverwalk and the convention center, and they know they have the location to get guests to stay rather than actually providing service at the price level they charge to keep guests happy. So they don't care.

Normally, before i write a bad review I ask the front desk if they can resolve the problem, and this stay was no different. Their indifference was sad, and I doubt we'll pick a Hyatt hotel unless we have no choice.

If you want a fine San Antonio hotel on the Riverwalk, I'd suggest the Palacio del Rio, La Mansion, or either of the Marriotts. Even the Hyatt Regency is a great choice. Just don't stay here unless your company is paying for the trip and you don't care about service.

Beautiful, classy modern hotel on the river. Very pleasing to the eyes. Valet staff was great, very accommodating and helpful; it wasn't their fault that the daily valet rate is $50 which I feel to be ridiculous. When making reservations we'd requested an executive suite near elevators because my husband walks with a cane, and I walk with a somewhat painful limp. We were 150 steps away from the elevator. This is not good, and reservations or registration could not accommodate us. We were told there were no suites close to the elevators, although Suite 932 was just around the corner from the elevators although already occupied. But still it's a suite near the elevators, so they do exist. The minifridge leaked and left a puddle of water in the kitchenette. Maintenance simply wiped up the water. No repairs done. We found water on the floor several times during our 4-day stay. No room service. "Texas Strawberries" entree in lobby grill is excellent; I highly recommend it. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is excellent, although pricey but worth it, and we were introduced to a very tasty Malbec. Oh, and the buttons on the remote control continually stuck - very difficult to operate. I would go back again but it wouldn't be at the top of my San Antonio list of hotel - unless they could guarantee an executive suite near the elevators.

I just stayed here for a work convention and it was a gorgeous hotel. Due to work arrangements, I had gotten stuck with 2 full beds instead of the King I originally wanted. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and offered a chance to upgrade to a corner King - I took it!! If you come here, you MUST try room 2473. It was perfect!! Out one window was a view of the Tower of America's, the other side was a view over the city (Alamodome). The views at sunset, early morning and sunrise were gorgeous (included below). I was here only 2 nights, so I didn't need housekeeping. The only 2 recommendations I have about the room were that the toilet didn't seem to have much flush power, and I was never able to connect to wifi on my laptop. I don't blame the hotel though because I never let them know I was having an issue, and my phone did just fine for what I needed while there.

On the business side, our conference was excellent. We had breakfast, snacks and lunch provided and every meal was delicious with a lot of variety. All the staff was very courteous and friendly. The layout was great for what we needed as well.

The location was great, I didn't realize initially how close it was to the Riverwalk. TONs of dining options within just a mile! The Riverwalk itself is so pretty - recommend taking the narrated boat ride, it was a lot of fun.

My review is what I said already. Had to wait until exactly 4 pm to check in and it was a Friday. Room service was too busy to handle an order in a timely manner. Brunch was overpriced and under served. $21 a person and kitchen not prepared and one person making Best Western waffles and omelets, so had to wait for 4 people.

I made the reservation 2 months before December 28th. I wanted a place to relax and have a nice view of the city before my big day (My Wedding). The reservation that I made was for the day and one night. When I made the reservation I made it clear that I needed it the earliest and that's why they were going to charge me the day fee plus a night fee. The girl that help me do the reservation on the phone told me that my room would be ready by 9 a.m. Well December 28th at 9 a.m. I was at the lobby at the Hyatt ready to start my day and everything went wrong. They did not have the room ready for me the system showed that I only made a reservation for the night. My wedding was going to start at 5:30 p.m. and they told me that my room was going to be ready at 4 p.m. I went crazy in my mind because I was already stressing out enough. So I showed the lady at the front desk my phone where it's showed the email they had sent me confirming my reservation I asked to speak with somebody else she told me to give her a minute and she went to the back room when she came back she told me that the only thing they could do was give me a room with two beds. If not I had to wait until 4 p.m. for the king size bedroom.

Overall, it was an excellent location right in the middle of the city. Sleep quality was above average, in my opinion, kids wanted to stay in bed for half the day bed was not too soft and not too hard could use cushion support pillow top would be great the blanket provided that. Hotel was clean during my stay. Tv guide could be simpler to navigate felt a little harder than most to switch channels not more instant. Microwaves are not in every room I believe near the ice machine. Parking was a little clustered and pricey for the duration which it was free or cost less especially since paying a higher price tag. The elevator is secured with room cards don't miss place it or you get stuck even the parking lot needed a room key.. But the people working majority of them were welcoming and good workers. Pool was decent water a little cold, no jacuzzi would be downfall. I did not try the food area or other amenities figured that is why I was near River-walk. On the other hand a very nice and clean big gym area better than most gyms out there for sure.

This is an excellent place to stay when attending a conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. This was also the headquarter hotel, so it was very convenient to just take an elevator to get to the ballrooms and function halls. We appreciated that we can access the Riverwalk from the hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. We also appreciated that guests have to use the hotel room key in the elevator, which added an extra layer of security. Service was excellent, fast, and prompt. There was a microwave next to the ice machine and disinfecting wipes were available, which we also appreciated. The only problem we had was although Perks is open 24 hours, breakfast was not available before 6 am on the first day of the conference and we had to prepare a bit early that day. The pool was small and it got very crowded in the afternoons when everyone wanted to relax after a busy conference. Our room had a nice view of Tower of Americas, so we saw the fireworks during the first day of Fiesta.
