All lanes of northbound I-5 in Everett closed after fatal trooper involved shooting
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating a fatal shooting involving a Washing State Trooper on Northbound I-5.
All lanes of NB I-5 are blocked for the investigation.
WSP responded to a road rage incident on I-5 north of Highway 2 just after 4 p.m.
A man was ramming his vehicle into a WSDOT vehicle and a lift on the shoulder of I-5.
The suspect got out of his vehicle armed with a hammer and there was an altercation between the suspect, a WSDOT employee and a trooper.
The trooper shot the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The WSDOT employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic is currently being diverted off of I-5 and onto Highway 2 and Marine View Drive.
According to Sigalert, the backup along northbound I-5 begins at about the Everett Mall.
