Mr. Akbar Tandjung has been active in the country's political arena for decades. And right in 2005 Mr. Akbar Tandjung tried to contribute to society in improving the quality of political life and democracy in Indonesia. This effort was realized by the establishment of the Akbar Tandjung (AT) Institute in Jakarta.

Mr. Akbar Tandjung as the Founder of the AT Institute said that various educational and training activities are offered at the AT Institute. 

AT Institute carries out education in the form of seminars, workshops, actual themed public discussions, book reviews, training and regular education in the form of the National Political Leadership School (SKPB). This institution also carried out an increase in knowledge capacity renewal in order to strengthen the performance of supporting the effectiveness of the implementation of legislative and government functions.

This institution also conducts joint research with other research institutions to ensure objectivity. In the future, this institution also plans to increase its activities and seek to build cooperation with various national and international institutions. The goal is to broaden the horizons of Indonesia's political and democratic development.
