- Thompson Family 84531 contributionsWe had a great, fun day at the conservatory! The live butterfly exhibition was amazing, and the kids had a blast playing around the gardens, the kids' playground, and the little waterfall. It was an awesome experience for the whole family. Highly recommend!Written May 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- American Eskimo2,998 contributionsStopped in to see what the new exposition was at the Ohio Arts Council Riffe Gallery. Very well planned display of many pieces covering a variety of media. The staff is a pleasure to answer any questions and point out some exhibition features one could easily miss.Written January 31, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Porthos7West Chester, OH8,434 contributionsReally cool little art museum. The collection would be considered avant garde. You'll need under an hour. Go and enjoy!Written February 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kurt J1 contributionMeeting ceramics artist Jennifer Jolley Brown was a thrill. She explained her process of Roku ceramics firing and how she created the beautiful vase I purchased as a house warming gift for friends.Written March 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located at 139 West Main Street, overlooking Bicentennial Park, it is part of the city's Scioto Mile tourist district. The 38,500-square-foot space offers adult art classes, exhibitions, workshops, tours, lectures and gifts. Open from 1 to 4 and 7 to 10 on Monday, 9 to 4 and 7 to 10 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9 to 4 on Friday and Saturday, it is a combination of two art galleries and teaching space, primarily for visual artists and crafters. The space also includes a ceramics lab in the basement and painting and weaving labs on the upper floors. Established in 1976, the brick Italianate building is one of the largest and and most welcoming art galleries in central Ohio and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Two current exhibitions are by Carmen Ostermann in the main gallery and by Annie Chrissy Burley in the loft gallery. Ostermann is an artist who investigates the intricacy of ecosystems and the impact of environmental destruction through delicate hand built ceramics and fiber sculptures. Burley uses the aesthetic of animation to explore themes of representation of the image-baring nature of African-American women through her own beliefs. For someone who is prone to traditional and conventional oil paintings, this artwork is highly educational and stimulating.Written February 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RYC88Centreville, VA1,283 contributionsThe exhibits change, so it's one of those places that might have something really cool, or it could be not so interesting, but it's free, right in downtown Columbus and worth stopping in. Right now the exhibit is really interesting - full room sculptures by Roxy Paine. The exhibit is called Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, which doesn't give you a clue. The rooms are fascinating, using perspective to take you in and out of the scene. Beautifully simple, but really complex. There are just five "rooms", so it doesn't take long to walk through the gallery, but the work is so cool and different - it is completely worth it to stop by when over at the Columbus Art Museum or walking downtown.Written January 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
