We have been visiting here every year since 2012 and we have fallen in love and it really is our 2nd home. I would say this is the best city beach. Great to walk along the promenade day or night. Lovely restaurants, great base to explore the city and walking distance to the bus station.

We visit the outside of the building when on a day tour of Gran Canaria. So time did not allow us to do everything but that said we had a couple of hours in the area which is full of interesting buildings/churches. Make sure to pop to the left hand side of the building to see an interesting statue.

Visiting Vegueta in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, is like stepping into a beautifully preserved slice of history. This charming old town offers a delightful blend of cultural richness, historical significance, and architectural beauty.

The cobblestone streets, lined with colorful colonial buildings, are perfect for leisurely strolls. Each corner seems to whisper stories of the past, from the age of explorers to the present day. The imposing Santa Ana Cathedral is a highlight, with its impressive Gothic architecture and panoramic views from the towers.

The Casa de Colón museum is another must-visit. It offers fascinating insights into Christopher Columbus's voyages and his connection to the Canary Islands. The collection of artifacts and exhibits provides a deep dive into the region’s maritime history.

Art enthusiasts will appreciate the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM), which showcases contemporary art in a beautifully restored historic building. The juxtaposition of modern art against the backdrop of Vegueta’s old-world charm is truly captivating.

The local markets, particularly the Mercado de Vegueta, are vibrant and bustling, offering a taste of local life and flavors. The variety of fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and pastries is a treat for the senses. Nearby, numerous tapas bars and restaurants serve delicious Canarian cuisine, providing a perfect end to a day of exploration.

Vegueta’s atmosphere is both relaxed and vibrant, making it an ideal destination for history buffs, art lovers, and anyone looking to experience the authentic soul of Las Palmas. Its well-preserved streets and warm, welcoming locals create an unforgettable experience. A visit to Vegueta is not just a trip through history but a journey into the heart of Gran Canaria's rich cultural tapestry.

    Enjoy your time in Vegueta!

Arrived quite early on Sunday and enjoyed the quiet walk through the botanical gardens. Easy going with just a few steps. Loads to see.
By the time we left, just before noon, there were no parking spaces free and it was quite busy.
Best of all, it’s free and well worth a look.

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon. Not too crowded. Tickets can be buy on site. Tickets per adult: €27, SGD38. The aquarium has 3 sections: the jungle which included reptiles etc., the Playa beach which has a huge cylindrical tank with sea creatures and the deep sea which had huge deep sea creatures. There are seats around to rest and restaurants and eateries within. Took about 1.5 hours slow walk and some resting in between to complete.

Calle Triana is the wide pedestrianised street leading from Vegueta to Triana, the two most interesting districts of Las Palmas.
The upper storeys of the buildings are brightly coloured fascinating old colonial buildings, the ground floor of the buildings are high-end retail outfits and restaurants.
Lovely to wander down, take in the sights and people watch.

Would definitely recommend visiting. Perfect for any age as there are lots of interactive displays. The planets rooms were fun with a ball pit and lots of photo opportunities. The museum is about 3-4 floors and you could easily spend hours there. Wasn’t too busy, went on my own and didn’t feel awkward. Tickets are £6 but if you have student discount, only £2.

Amazing views. Perfect in the morning to admire the views. I recommend after that visit to take the route (with breathtaking scenery) on way to the village of Tejeda. Reminded me of a smaller version of The Grand Canyon. Tejeda is beautiful to walk around too.

We went by the park on our way from the cruise port to the Vegueta. It was a cloudy day so the park wasn’t very crowded and it was quite nice and well maintained.
