Gavin and Stacey finale 'secret' kept by team behind Netflix smash Sunderland Til I Die

The finale of Gavin and Stacey will be brought to screens by the same team behind Netflix smash Sunderland Til I Die, with Fulwell 73 co-founder Leo Pearlam admitting that he'd been forced to keep a huge 'secret' over the show's comeback.

It was back in Christmas 2019 that an audience of over 70 million tuned into watch the last festive special of the much loved BBC comedy, as Nessa and Bryn duetted on memorable cover of Fairytale of New York, before Smithy introduced his new girlfriend to the clans from Essex and Barry Island and Nessa threw a huge spanner in the works by proposing to him out of the blue.

Nessa getting down one one knee to pop the question to the father of her son Neil was the final scene in the 2019 episode and now, after a lot of speculation and numerous denials on it coming back, it was announced by writers and stars James Corden and Ruth Jones on Friday morning, that Gavin and Stacey WILL be back before the end of this year.

For what is sure to be the most watched TV show of the year, Gavin and Stacey will air on BBC One on Christmas Day and Fulwell 73 head honcho Leo took to LinkedIn after news broke of its return to write: "Keeping this a secret has not been easy but the news is finally out, the last ever Gavin and Stacey is written and ready to go! Coming to the BBC his Xmas and all of us at Fulwell 73 Production cannot wait for you to see what those geniuses James and Ruth have come up with!"

As well as producing three series of Sunderland Til I Die, the last of which aired earlier this year and featured Sunderland's promotion to the Championship in 2022, Fulwell 73 have been behind massive TV shows like the Friends Reunion and The Kardashians.
