My dissapointment with Little White Lies is immense. I sent this central homepage image through multiple AI 'art' checkers to confirm that indeed this image was by AI. But just look at arm hair and the face, it's so evident.
A website and critic I once revered for its wonderful artistic styling which paired so well with their academic edginess. Each article has it own piece of art expressing the emotion of the piece and expanding on the film before I ever dove into read them. I've read it for so long that I still use an RSS feed to get updates. Now like many else, the publication has fallen victim to the bottom line trading in quality commentary in exchange for quarterly earnings.
This anti ai trend is the new ludditism
Ludditism implies improvement when the work has become worse. You’re looking for a race to the bottom.
Ai is hustling a tool like any other tool it’s not evil to use for small sketches like this. No one’s entitled to a job
Ahh but the site has built itself on its reputation as one that does not cut corners and is a supporter of artists and independent journalism. If they cut corners, they’ll end up like Sports Illustrated that died from the same corner cuts. If the hustle produces low grade work, then the hustle is not worth it.
