Manchester City have made a £100m bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Sky Sports News understands.

That is despite City being prepared to offer players in addition to cash.

Should a deal be done, Kane's first match with Pep Guardiola's side will be against Tottenham on 15 August.

After last month's Champions League final, which City lost to Chelsea, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club wanted to strengthen its squad by bringing "quality in a couple of key positions", adding that it would be "competitive and aggressive".

They need to replace record scorer Sergio Aguero, who has left for Barcelona, with Kane being considered alongside Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and Inter Milan duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Kane's future is not expected to be decided, however, until after Euro 2020, on which he is said to be fully focused at the moment.

In a disappointing start to the tournament, he has failed to score in England's first two matches, and was substituted in both games.

His slow start has been a surprise, given that he topped the Premier League charts for goals and assists, despite Tottenham finishing seventh.

He has insisted that neither a lack of fitness nor speculation over his club future are the reasons for his lack of goals against Croatia and Scotland at Wembley.
