What a legend! B movie king who later helped to launch the careers of some of the greatest directors of their generation as well (Francis Ford Coppola, Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese, Jonathan Demme, Peter Bogdanovich, Joe Dante, James Cameron, George Armitage). May he rest in peace, and may his movies be remembered through high quality blu-ray releases in the future.

A director and producer. Plenty of entertaining films under Roger Corman's impact. Death Race 2000 (1975) and his sci-fi films were fun.
Born 1926, to 2024, 2 years short of 100. A long life for a human, but short in the scope of the age of the Earth and Universe. His mark remains after his passing.

I loved almost everything Roger Corman has done. Especially the Poe adaptations. I loved them all. He pioneered that ‘60’s genre of great filmmaking. My first Corman film I saw was “Masque of the Red Death” that aired on TCM, and then from that moment on, I became obsessed with seeing of his films. That of course was in the early nineties. I’ve been collecting almost every one of his films on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. There NEVER will be another Roger Corman.

Surprisingly, I rewatched “Death Race 2000”, and it still holds up. Not bad for a film made in the early ‘70’s. I absolutely love it!

What a life. What a legend. He was never afraid to do something different. He could make a movie on a shoestring budget and make it look like ten times the amount of $$ was spent.

R.I.P. My friend.

..thankyou Roger Corman for those great Edgar Allan Poe cinematic adaptations...

I checked his filmography and the only stuff I've seen with his name attached is the Death Race movie from 2008 (and its sequel), which i'm assuming he got an Executive Producer credit, due to making the original.

I'm obviously familiar with his name but i'm surprised I haven't seen anything he's made directly.

Damn, just saw this. Very sad to hear I was definitely a fan. He sent ripples through the entire film industry and it's impossible to say what things would have been like without him. RIP

May not have the greatest fan of his work but you can't deny his impact to the industry. The people born out of directly working w/ him is insane. Jack Nicholson's film debut was from a film that Corman produced back in 1958. That's how crazy Corman's impact to film was. James Cameron even worked w/ him.

Stupid question: What kind of life did Corman have?

I ask that based off of the kind of stuff he worked on. I'm guessing he made a good living w/o much financial struggle by the 1980s maybe? He seemed pretty mellow and cool. Love seeing interviews w/ him.

You forgot Little Miss Millions, also known as Home For Christmas in 1993. Thats better than most of the movies that Roger Corman was involved with.

RIP.

There’s great doc on Amazon.

I met Roger and his daughter when I worked at Shout. Both signed my Rock and Roll High School DVD and gave the company a little talk bout his career. Both Roger and his daughter were super nice. My honor to meet them.

Roger one of the greats, glad he got the honorary Oscar.

I believe they are all in the Corman documentary along with Jack Nicholson and many others who began their start with Corman.

But you may be right. We'll never know.
You may be right but someone has to believe in you and give you a start. Roger loved making movies so much that he recognized people who had his same enthusiasm for making movies.

I remember when I was going to UCLA seeing Death Race 2000. What a crazy film with Kung Fu David Carradine (that was my reference point for the actor at the time) Still a favorite.

A true legend in film making. No budget was low enough to create some of the most recognizable and iconic movies of the last century.

Rest in peace, Mr. Corman, you did your part. There will be no other Roger Corman.

Pretty much what I was gonna say, they might have found their way and hypothetically another person would have given them their shot, but Corman was the guy who did it.
