Georgia No Longer No. 1 In Updated Preseason College Football Rankings

Brad Crawford of 247Sports updated his 2024 preseason college football rankings last week as spring games began to die down.

Crawford's new rankings did not feature many major changes, however, it does show a new team holding the No. 1 spot.

The Georgia Bulldogs fell from No. 1 to No. 2, swapping places with the Ohio State Buckeyes, who have won the offseason over the past few months.

Both teams appear to be rather interchangeable in a majority of offseason rankings. They both feature stacked rosters and excellent coaching staffs.

But what the Buckeyes were able to do in the transfer portal, with the additions of Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins and Will Howard, they've earned Crawford's top spot.

Both the Bulldogs and the Buckeyes missed the College Football Playoff in 2023 and enter this season with a chip on their shoulders.

Ohio State especially will look to take full advantage of Jim Harbaugh leaving the Michigan Wolverines for the NFL, opening the door for an easier path to the CFP for OSU.

Crawford's top-ten was as follows:

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
  2. Georgia Bulldogs
  3. Texas Longhorns
  4. Oregon Ducks
  5. Alabama Crimson Tide
  6. Ole Miss Rebels
  7. Michigan Wolverines
  8. Missouri Tigers
  9. Penn State Nittany Lions
  10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
