Silver Apples – Contact

Looking for an OG 1969 Kapp Jacket. Found a VG+ copy that was stored in the jacket of the first LP. If you have an extra please reach out.

This pressing sounds pretty decent - a little flat and bassy, but better than other reissues (specifically looking at that Radioactive bootleg -.-). Silver Apples' masters were apparently destroyed in the Universal archive fire (at least, according to Wikipedia), so I'd like to know the source they used - to me it sounds very clean regardless!

I have a dead rare ITCC International Tape Cartridge Corp 4-track "Silver apples contact sealed" 1969 Kapp 52-3584 (like new). It is not listed here. Update-I listed the tape on discogs and added a couple pictures (not the best pictures).

I got a copy signed by Simeon via Devils Jukebox records webstore in the UK circa 2011. It's not as good as the debut but still an essential album to own.

I've always liked these strange vinyl-transfer CDs. They really cranked up the bass. Thanks WFMU for introducing me to Silver Apples circa 1996 interview with Simeon.

There's no evidence for the claim that Pan-Am sued over the artwork for Contact. Maybe they threatened legal action. Who knows? But I doubt the album was 'withdrawn', as it's not rare.

I'm pretty sure pan am sued because of the plane crash scene on the backside. From what I heard, the fact that one of their planes was going to be alluded to crashing was not disclosed to pan am and they really didn't like that.

I wouldn't have thought this to be inofficial. 180 g, Thick sleeve, insert with original press release and a new text, sticker and barcode. Sound is fantastic, quiet pressing, flat.

i have this and it sounds awful. sounded to me like they used the Radioactive bootleg for the source instead of the master tapes. i definitely recommend the Jackpot reissue over this one, as it is taken from the master tapes (and sounds to me like the same digital masters used in the 1996 CD reissue)
