Umbrella/Tent Policy
The Department of Athletics determines acceptable use of tents, pop-up tents, canopies and umbrellas during home athletic competitions. The department will take proper safety precautions in order to promote a positive experience for student-athletes, coaches and spectators. The department will prioritize and utilize space as needed at all home outdoor competitions to include baseball, men's and women's soccer, softball and track & field. The use of tents, pop-up tents, canopies and umbrellas are as follows:
  • For Baseball and Softball - Space is limited for pop-up tents and canopies. Spectators who bring their own tents or canopies are required to secure them with weights. If weights are not available then tents cannot be used in order to protect fan safety. Umbrellas are permitted during baseball games as long as they do not impede the view of other spectators. Umbrellas are permitted during softball games as long as they are used at the ends of the bleachers. Umbrellas cannot be used in the middle section of the bleachers since they obstruct the camera being used to live stream our home games.
  • For Men's and Women's Soccer - Umbrellas are permitted in the bleachers and behind the line indicated on the field. Pop-up tents and canopies are not permitted during any soccer match.
  • For Track & Field - Since there is amble space around the track, tents, pop-up tents, canopies and umbrellas are permitted. However, they must be secured in order to prevent the wind from blowing them on the track or field during competition.
