My father (John Bortniak) is a first generation American. His parents arrived in Ellis Island, separately, around 1910 and settled in Seymour Connecticut. They met and married around 1915. His father, Joseph (Asafat was original first name) Bortniak from Izby (born 1892). Joseph's parents: Laurenti Bortniak (from Izby) and Mary Bortniak (Maiden name the same, but not related) from Belichna.
His mother, Anna Pashko from Bortne (born 1897). Anna's father's surname was Pashko but uncertain of first name. We believe her mother's maiden name was Horbal.
This is as far back as we can go from gathering information from relatives. If anyone can provide any additional information for previous generations, we would love to hear from them.
