"A Case of You" is a B-side from Tori Amos's 1994 album Under the Pink.

Background[]

"A Case of You" was originally written by Joni Mitchell and released on her 1971 album Blue. Tori's cover was released on the "Cornflake Girl" UK Limited Edition CD single.[1]

When asked by Hot Press in 1994 why she chose to cover the song, Tori explained that "Joni was part of my life from the moment I heard her", and furthermore, that "on the ["Cornflake Girl"] single I want to move from the Keith Jarret jazz plus reggae undertones in "Cornflake Girl" into Joni's "A Case of You" and make it a seduction, heightening the undertone that was always there, when a woman sings to a man, 'I could drink a case of you!'".[2]

In 2012, Joe Vallese of PopMatters listed Tori's rendition of "A Case of You" as one of her best covers.[3]

Live performances[]

Tori first performed her cover of "A Case of You" during the 1994 Under the Pink Tour and has played it during many of her tours since.[4]
