Updated thread for the E-ticket requirement for entry and departure from the DR.
Just returned form PC and as all the E-ticket threads are somewhat obsolete and this process has changed quite a bit since its innovation in April 2021. I am providing an update have included it in the Top Questions section for future reference.
Here is what I went through for the departure:
- E-ticket now only 3 parts (no more 72 hours requirement and Health/COVID questionnaire).
-Part 1 - General Information: permanent address information (for the person filling out the E-ticket). Also where you click on "Arrival E-Ticket"
- Part 2 - Migratory Information: name, gender, DOB, passport #, occupation, e-mail, flight details, hotel or accommodation details (select resort if staying at one). One new question is they ask if you will do any sports like surfing, scuba diving or golf... interesting. Also glad to see they've added "Retired" to list of employment... LOL.
- Part 3 - Customs Information: asking if you have large amount of $$$, anything subject to tax, live animals, plants of food products... regular customs Qs
Once you click complete, it will ask you if you want to complete the exit E-ticket. Click "Yes" The departure E-ticket is simply one small page asking for your departure details (date, flight #, Airline). Once complete, click "Yes".
Both your arrival and departure E-tickets will show up as QR-code on one page. Then at the bottom, you can download both as PDF documents and also e-mail them to yourself (you already entered an e-mail in Part 2). I did both but the e-mail came in within 30 seconds so that works very well.
You can still complete the E-ticket for up to 7 people travelling together (simply click on "yes" when ask if travelling with others). You also do not need to be living together. You can complete the E-ticket for a couple, family members, friends or co-workers. The names of the additional travelers (and passport #s) will appear at the bottom of the E-ticket.
You can also apparently modify an E-ticket now: "How can I modify my e-Ticket?
You must enter the system through the consultation option. It will show you a button that enables the editable form." I have not tried it but in the past, it was simple to redo another one but if this works well then it may save a few minutes by simply re-accessing your current E-ticket and modifying.
That's it. You now have both your arrival and departure E-tickets. Airlines in Canada do request to see them (as for other countries I believe) on departure to the DR/PC so good to have this completed before you arrive at the airport. I was asked for my E-ticket QR-code both in Canada before my trip to PC and again in PC at check-in for my flight to Canada.
There are some reports that some airlines still enforce the 72 hours before departure requirement which is wrong but to avoid this, simply complete within the 72 hours from your flight departure and you will be fine. Only takes about 10 mins or so to complete everything.
Hopefully this helps everyone.
