Terms and conditions

  • Miles, Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points can be earned on LX code-share flights ranging from LX8000 to LX8499 (operated by Edelweiss), provided these flights are booked directly with SWISS under the LX flight number. You can continue to earn miles on LX code-share flights ranging from LX4600 to LX4619, but not Points, Qualifying Points, HON Circle Points or the Executive Bonus. Neither miles nor Points are awarded on code-share flight numbers MS9271, MS9270, AI7701, AI7702, AI7703 and AI7704 (operated by SWISS).
  • Flight award tickets and reduced-price tickets within the travel industry (e.g. ID or AD) are generally excluded from earning miles and Points (Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points). Further information about whether your booking class qualifies for earning miles can be found under “Earning miles and Points” > “Miles”.
  • Miles and Points can only be earned on scheduled flights operated by our partners.
  • The number of miles credited is determined by the ticket price (including airline surcharges) or the booking class, depending on which booking method you use. Not all booking classes qualify for earning miles. Information about which calculation method applies to your flight and whether your booking class qualifies for earning miles can be found under “Earning miles and Points” > “Miles”.
  • The number of Points you earn is based on the travel class booked and the table shown under “Earning miles and Points” > “Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points”.
  • Points can generally only be earned on flights for which miles are also credited.
  • You’ll also earn miles for additional services such as baggage, seat reservations and upgrades on all SWISS flights. As a Frequent Traveller, Senator or HON Circle Member, you’ll get 25% or 50% more miles too.
  • Please keep your boarding pass and a copy of your ticket until your miles and Points have been automatically credited.
  • Some flight numbers and booking classes may not qualify for earning miles and Points.
  • Please note our terms and conditions of participation.

Earning miles and Points

Miles

Your miles are calculated according to the booking method chosen.

Calculation based on airfare1

The following applies to flights booked via the booking channel of a Lufthansa Group airline (Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City and SWISS):

Miles = airfare x 4 (or x 6 for members with frequent flyer status)

This calculation also applies to flights booked via a travel agency or online travel agency, providing the number of the flight ticket you have purchased starts with the following digits: 220 (Lufthansa), 724 (SWISS), 257 (Austrian Airlines), 082 (Brussels Airlines) or 101 (Air Dolomiti), or if it is a ticket issued by the airline Eurowings. If you don’t know your ticket number, you can often find it in your confirmation email or on your receipt.

Please note that the airfare does not include payments for upgrades or for extra services such as seat allocation or excess baggage.

Calculation based on booking class system

If you book via the booking channel of another airline or through a travel agency or online travel agency and the first three digits of your ticket number are not 220 (Lufthansa), 724 (SWISS), 257 (Austrian Airlines), 082 (Brussels Airlines) or 101 (Air Dolomiti), your miles will be based on fixed mileage amounts or the flight distance and booking class. This also applies if your ticket is not a Eurowings airline ticket.

In Europe, fixed mileage amounts apply for each booking class. For international flights, the mileage amounts are calculated according to the booking class and distance flown.

Booking classes that aren’t listed are excluded from earning miles.

Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points

You’ll earn Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points on all flights operated by SWISS. Points and Qualifying Points are awarded for all travel classes. HON Circle Points will only be awarded for Business and First Class flights.

Two criteria are used to determine the number of Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points you earn on SWISS flights: the travel class and whether it is a continental or intercontinental flight.

Number of Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points per flight segment

Economy Class Premium Economy Class Business Class1 First Class1
Continental flights 20 20 40 40
Intercontinental flights 60 80 200 300
1

HON Circle Points will only be awarded for Business and First Class flights.

A continental flight is a flight segment for which the departure and arrival airports are on the same continent. For example, if you fly with SWISS from Zurich to Barcelona, both the departure and arrival airports are within Europe, and the flight therefore counts as a continental flight. Flights within Germany, Austria or Switzerland also count as continental flights.

An intercontinental flight is a flight segment for which the departure and arrival airports are on different continents. For example, if you fly with SWISS from Zurich to New York, the departure and arrival airports are on different continents (Europe and North America). The flight segment therefore counts as an intercontinental flight.

Domestic flights count as continental flights. Please note that Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia count as part of the European zone, which means that flights from Switzerland to Tunisia, for example, count as continental flights.

You can earn Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points on journeys with SWISS Air Rail in the same way as you would on flights operated by SWISS. A maximum number of Qualifying Points or HON Circle Points is defined for achieving each status on journeys with SWISS Air Rail.

The maximum thresholds are: 160 Qualifying Points for Frequent Traveller status, 500 Qualifying Points for Senator status and 1,000 HON Circle Points for HON Circle status.

Miles, Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points can be earned on LX code-share flights ranging from LX8000 to LX8499 (operated by Edelweiss), provided these flights are booked directly with SWISS under the LX flight number. You can continue to earn miles on LX code-share flights ranging from LX4600 to LX4619, but not Points. Neither miles nor Points are awarded on code-share flight numbers MS9271, MS9270, AI7701, AI7702, AI7703 and AI7704 (operated by SWISS).
