Best strategy for Sophia

Degree-Specific Questions/Comments/Concerns

Hi everyone, I am busy with my associates degree for computer science i am currently busy with my third term now. I recently learned about Sophia and I am quite interested in starting with it next term (can't afford it at the moment), however with the current learning pathway I'm a bit scared of taking any courses that i need to transfer credits for.

I have completed/currently busy the following courses: UNIV 1001 Programming fundamentals CS1101 Greek and roman civilization HIST1421 Programming 1 CS1102 Introduction to psychology PSYC1504 Programming 2 CS1103

My plan is to just take one course a term through UoPeople and then try to get as many as possible though sophia as it work out quite a bit cheaper if you go at a good pace. I mainly want to focus on the gen ed courses on sophia and continue the major courses through the university. Can someone possibly help to guide me to which courses would be best to take on sophia so that it doesnt interfere to much with the learning pathway and my desired goal.

I would suggest you take a leave of absence for one term to only focuss on Sophia (thus not taking any UoPeople courses in that term). It works out cheaper. At Sophia you pay for time not amount of courses. So while you do Sophia, focuss on completing as many gen ed courses as possible in that about two months period.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing, I think the best course might be the 4 month package and then i just take 2 terms leave of absence and see how much i can get done in those 4 months. Just need to figure out which courses to take

You dont need 4 months. Trust me. I did my whole Bachelors worth of credits, some gen Ed and some majors like maths. I was sinking maybe 4 hours a day into it.

Take courses that don't have capstones. Capstones can take several days to get graded thus slowing down your progress.

Make a degree plan from the catalog (or do the audit on your account), then review the transfer equivalent on Sophia and map out what you need. For reference, I did one month, took a break, then signed up for a second and completed 108 credits on Sophia. I am a business admin student, but if you want I’ll send you my degree plan which shows what transferred in for me. The gen ed and electives should help. Send me a DM and I will reply.
