The Piano Guys, made up of Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson and Al van der Beek, are a music group that have built up a following on YouTube, uploading enchanting piano and cello versions of popular songs since 2010.
The Piano Guys formed in a piano shop when piano shop owner, Paul Anderson had a visit from Jon Schmidt who walked in an enquired about practising there for an upcoming show. A couple of months later, they started making videos together for fun. With the collaboration with Al Van Der Beek assuming the role of technician, they began to post a music video each week. To date, all of their videos have over 750,000 views, and since October 2014, The Piano Guys’ YouTube channel had amassed half a billion in views, with over three million subscribers. At the YouTube awards, the band won the “Most Up-and-Coming Channel” award in the YouTube “On the Rise” contest, with their “Michael Meets Mozart” video.
As of September 2012, they announce that they had been signed by Sony Records, who would later release a their eponymous album “The Piano Guys”. The album also features versions of “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele and “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction too. The track list includes a version of “Mission Impossible” featuring their contemporary, Lindsay Sterling, and Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are”
Read moreThese guys are funny, charming, and brilliantly talented. Their songs will make you laugh, cry, stomp your feet, and leave you absolutely breathless! I highly recommend seeing them in concert. Their banter back and forth guves you a real sense of who they are and what the music means to them. I was left with a smile on my face and a bubbly feeling that lasted for hours afterwards. This is as colse as you can get to a spiritual revalation. "Ice cream for the ears."
They were incredible! The show was outstanding, the talent of these performers is just made the night fly by. The music, singing, and comedy was better than most shows I’ve been too. Bravo to the Piano Men. This was my second visit to your show and I’m looking forward to my third. Oh I almost left out the dancing, wasn’t incredible but most intertaining. Brought me to tears laughing.
Great concert. Very funny and very beautifully played. These guys are great musicians, and one of the things that made the concert so great was watching them while they play. You can see their passion for music showing and it made the concert just that bit more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
the show was really amazing performances and it was a lot of fun all night. my only complaint is it was too short lol. it was funny when Jon started dancing on stage. i’ve been listening to their music for 9 years and i finally got to see them in concert! amazing concert
