Soap Writer Bettina Bradbury Dead at 63

Honoring a daytime scribe.

Soaps.com is saddened to report that soap opera writer Bettina Bradbury passed away on January 13 at the age of 63. Her son Danny Karapetian alerted his mother’s friends via her Facebook page and stated, “It is my very sad duty to report that my Mom Bettina passed away this morning. She was an indefatigable force of nature, a talented and decorated writer, and a loving mother, sister, and friend to everyone she knew. I know how much she cared about all of you, and how much you all loved her. I’d love for you to share your stories about her. In case we lose access to this account, I will provide my email address below. Remember her for her humor, her hugs, and the eternal optimism she endowed in her family, colleagues, friends, fans, and children. She will be missed, and her absence is already deeply felt. Love you Mom, forever.”

Born on July 22, 1955, as documented on her Facebook page, Bradbury was the daughter of the late science fiction writer Ray Bradbury and Marguerite McClure and had three sisters, Alexandra, Susan and Ramona. She attended the Westlake School for Girls in Los Angeles, California and went on to enroll at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

Bradbury’s first venture into daytime was as a writer on Santa Barbara from 1987 to 1993 before writing various episodes of All My Children ranging from 1995 to 2003, to which she won three Daytime Emmy Awards. She then wrote for One Life to Live in 2006 before heading to Days of our Lives as a writer in 2007. She was also an assistant to the late John Conboy, who passed away January 18, 2018.
