The Philippines takes deep pride in the beauty and charm of Filipinas. This is perhaps why beauty pageants are a regular spectacle during special celebrations such as founding anniversaries, school fairs and fiestas, among others. In most colleges and universities, pageants are quite a regular thing as well. It is not surprising then that even among women cadets enrolled in the Reserve Officers Training Course, the Miss ROTC pageant has become an equally anticipated highlight in the annual ROTC Games.

Foreign intimidation in our own maritime borders remains a pressing security concern for the entire nation. This threat to national security gives birth to even greater challenges to national economy, peace and stability. It is, however, good to note that our government has come to recognize the importance of establishing strong links with foreign defense forces, particularly with countries whose stakes in Asian maritime peace and cooperation are as crucial as that of the Philippines.
National Security Information Clearance Act

Only last Monday (May 13, 2024), I introduced Senate Bill 2667 or The National Security Information Clearance Act. The bill was premised on the important goal of safeguarding classified matters and information in government offices, most importantly those that may imperil national security and stability. The proposed legislation also detailed the policies and procedures by which data and information in government agencies should be classified, stored, and accessed, and the penalties for those who will violate the policies outlined in the act.
Philippine ROTC Games 2024

Young people are the future of any country. We rely on them to build on the positive gains we have achieved and to prepare a better Philippines for those who will come after them. Hence, it is important to invest in their development so that they can reach their full potential and be able to lead and serve with honor and excellence. Youth development programs, ROTC being one of these, can equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to drive change and progress for our nation. These programs can also help the Filipino youth to develop a sense of civic responsibility and to become active partners in community growth.
The Good Samaritan at sea

Adrift and lost in the Atlantic Ocean for nearly two days, American sailor Stuart Bee grabbed a second chance at life when Filipino sailors found and rescued him 86 miles from the shore of Port Cavernal in Florida. The 62-year old Bee was found hanging on to the bow of his ship, clinging to dear life and hoping for rescue.
