Name Correction
I booked a flight via FlightNetwork from London HTW to Kolkata with Air India for next February. Immediately after booking I realised that I had forgotten to include my middle name, so I called the helpline and did get through fairly quickly. The FlightNetwork agent asked me to email them with a copy of my passport, which I did. I thought it would be a simple matter of contacting Air India and getting the middle name inserted. Weeks went by with no news of the correction. I called from time to time and told there was a big queue of customers wanting name changes and that it would incur a cost. Eventually they sent me a 'payment link' for £84 which I reluctantly paid and thought that would be the end of it. Again weeks went by with no confirmation of the change, so I called again. Finally I got an email to say that Air India were not replying to my request and the case was closed. They also asked me to contact Air India myself, which I did. Air India explained that their procedures required that I should 'register a case' which would be considered and approved, or maybe not. I would have to cancel my flight and re-book. As a result I cancelled the flight and also my trip to Kolkata as there were other reasons not to go and this was the last straw. Flight Network did refund my flight straightaway, less £211, and told me they would also refund the £84 for the correction which was not done. They even gave me a refund reference number. That was in August. However, I'm still waiting.
