Kajabi Vs Mastermind: Brutally Honest Comparison 

There are few platforms that have drawn as much attention as Kajabi and Mastermind in the educational space.

Both have a very engaged user base!

Kajabi has been around for more than a decade and has become the best known name in the industry.

Mastermind was launched by famous influencer Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi and Clickfunnels co-founder Russell Brunson.

Both platforms speak to a slightly different audience and offer different features too, and that’s what we’ll explore in this comparison so you can make the best decision.

Fundamentally, we’re looking at 2 types of platforms:

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform and designed to be a one stop shop to sell and deliver online programs.

Mastermind is not designed to provide the most features but instead a selected set of tools to help you deliver the best group coaching/mastermind programs.

Before getting into the “what do they do”, let’s look at pricing.

Now, it’s important to understand what you get for your money, and that’s what the rest of this comparison will show so don’t skip that!

Mastermind essentially has one simple plan (monthly or yearly) that offers you full access to the platform and its features.

There are limits in that plan that you can’t really go over:

Kajabi on the other hand appears a lot pricier.

But remember that this is an all-in-one platform that does much more than just helping you build an online program.

Website & Funnel

This might not be something you’re expecting to be taken care of but it is an important feature for any course creators.

Being able to build a funnel and pages in order to sell your programs and mastermind is vital!

This is something that Kajabi offers to the full extent with the ability create any type of pages you’d like using the drag and drop page builder:

This of course includes opt-in, sales pages, automations, checkout pages and everything needed to build a funnel.

You can also create a Blog and share your posts there.

Mastermind on the other hand offers a pretty limited feature here…

You’re really only able to create an opt-in page:

And even then, this will have to follow a predetermined structure that you cannot change.

This can be problematic if you planned on only using Mastermind and most users will need to use another platform for their funnel and website.

Payment

Both platforms offer a checkout feature that will allow you to connect a payment gateway and process payments.

Kajabi offers both Stripe and Paypal but also Google and Apple Payment.

Mastermind also supports Stripe and Paypal.

Checkouts in Mastermind are automatically generated based on the information you input when creating a new program and cannot be designed further:

You can have both one-off pricing and recurring payment options for both platforms.

Kajabi also has more payment options such as payment plans and Pay What You Want.

Overall, Kajabi offers a much more flexible checkout feature here.

Online Programs

This is maybe the area where the two platforms compete the most.

Mastermind was specifically built to help you create a group coaching program or mastermind.

That can include of course a video module (hosted on the platform) with downloadable and resources.

But also of course live mastermind sessions:

These sessions are only available to members and easy to schedule for your mastermind.

You can go live directly on the platform and allow your students to join through their client platform.

After the session, you can keep a recording and add that to your program for replays.

The platform is very tailored to a mastermind and wouldn’t necessarily work for other types of program.

Kajabi on the other hand is a bit more flexible with a full curriculum builder:

You can also design the front-end of the course - which is not possible with Mastermind.

You’ll have several templates and layouts at your disposal and you make these looks pretty much however you’d like.

These can be self-paced courses, membership, webinars, etc.

There is also a fully-fledged coaching product type you can create for 1-1 coaching.

Note that these aren’t necessarily fit for group coaching programs.

There is a live video option in Kajabi too, meaning that you could build your program to be suitable for masterminds.

This is probably the main difference between the two platforms.

Mastermind was created for a specific use and doesn’t pretend or try to cover all of your needs as an online creator.

Kajabi on the other hand is meant to be a one stop shop and help with everything you need, which does mean more flexibility overall.

Kajabi:

• Email Marketing: Kajabi offers a fully fledged email marketing system where you can segment your list and setup automated email campaigns or date-based ones.
• Community: Kajabi acquired Vibely and now offers a well-rounded community building feature for all of its users. This can be a great way to build your own social media group
• Podcast: Kajabi offers podcast hosting and wil, help centralize everything. Episodes will then be broadcasted to Apple, Google and Spotify Podcast.

Mastermind:

• Directory: This is a way to get some eyeballs on your program. Mastermind has a public directory for its creator to display their work.
