greatest cover ever - and such soul

My friend Pinchas Bottomley loves this album, and is always trying to bring me round to its vulgarity. His fantasy is to record such material himself. But as he realises, you have to be able to sing to pull off a cover like that, to justify it. Then it can become more than just rudeness - it becomes a sublime gesture from one of the great soul voices. Millie Jackson is this, without question, a sort of Gladys Knight gone to the bad - but her singing is as good as that. She really has phenomenal vocal reach, and can be truly moving. You need to hear the way she sings Hot Wild Unrestricted Crazy Love, how stuffed with soul it is, how yearning in the Can You feel It? Other great songs include Imitation of Love, Love Is A Dangerous Game, or Will You Love Me Tomorrow, all incredibly, infinitely wonderful. After that listen to some of the spoken riffs whose titles are too rude for repetition on Amazon, even though they are in the track listing. There's something so liberating about the whole thing. Pinchas can go on practising, but will he ever be able to cut it before his cover appeal goes? He's got the sneakers, the outraged look, the shiny shorts, the legs - yes - but he will never have the pipes, I fear, to deserve a place in the same record rack as Millie.

I LOVE "Ms. Millie Jackson"!.....Very underrated, outspoken, calls it like she see's it! Was very hard to find this album, it was brand new, "I LOVE IT!".....I have framed it and hung it on my bathroom wall!
