Gadot proves she doesn’t need Wonder Woman to kick butt, but the script is too complicated for its own good. Viewers are used to MI6 secret agents, but when there are super secret agents beneath that, it’s hard to keep track of who’s double-crossing who.

This movie is not 30%. Did someone pay off the critics? I liked it better than Red Notice. Grey Man. The Adam Project. Ava. Ghosted. Lift. 6 Underground. Obviously Argyle. It was more enjoyable than The Old Guard and noticeably better than Missions Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning Part 1. I presume it borrowed concepts from the last two films mentioned, which is a good thing considering how much of a letdown Dead Reckoning was even though it bears a 96% RT score (1% higher than Rogue Nation which makes no sense). Not only does Gal Gadot prove herself as a formidable A-list action star, the film itself was done remarkably well on nearly every front: cinematography, stunts, script, plot, execution. It may not have the Mission Impossible score but it didn’t need it. Half a star loss because Gadot doesn’t perform stunts like Cruise, another half a star loss for lack of creativity/predictability/copy-catting from other films. Regardless, I was thoroughly impressed and don’t hesitate to recommend it to others while mentioning all of the above.

I enjoyed this action flick! Gadot kicks butt and takes names. Is her character essentially the same as in her other action movies? Sure, but it’s a solid performance. Impractical world building and some holes in the plot, but a few nice cameos help with that. Worth watching, 4 stars
