Borna Barisic has undergone a near-total transformation in the eyes of many Rangers fans in recent times.
By the end of last season, many Bears had had enough of the 26-year-old. Having arrived from Osijek for a reported fee of £2 million in the summer of 2018 [Daily Record], niggling injuries and a lack of form meant that he struggled to impress.
For many, it looked like that trend was set to continue this season. The left-back was slammed for his performance in the narrow opening day win at Kilmarnock.
However, boosted by his international form and the injury absence of Jon Flanagan, he’s looked a totally different player in recent times.
He’s defending stoutly, using the ball well and marauding down the left flank. The dangerous crossing that seemed to desert him after a fortnight in Glasgow is back and it seems he’s finally managed to nail down his spot.
Playing in this all-action fashion, he’s an exciting player to watch and the majority of the Gers support, once divided over the full-back, are now rallying around him.
Rangers fans are loving new Borna Barisic chant
He even has his own song now, too. Although it only emerged recently, it rang around Livingston’s Tony Macaroni Arena on multiple occasions during Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory.
To the tune of Culture Club’s Karma Chameleon, it goes ‘Borna, Borna, Borna, Borna, Borna Barisic, he comes and goes, he comes and goes.”
It’s simple but effective and after receiving so much criticism during his first year at the club, it must be satisfying for the player to hear his name being sung.
Plenty of Bears have expressed support for the song on Twitter over recent days.
