As someone who had a condo at the base of Aspen Highlands for 20 years I have fallen in love with Beech Mountain Resort. Today was my 34th day of skiing at Beech and was just another great day in Skiing paradise. I’ve skied all over the west and never dreamed I would ski in NC or anywhere in the east. In fact I wasted 4 years of going to Colorado and ignoring Banner Elk Skiing. We have more BlueBird days here than in Aspen and the light stays good all day. There are very few places in the west that are open 12 hours a day. I’m hoping to get 50+ days in this year. My advice to newcomers is arrive early and we will find nicely groomed slopes and friendly employees.

Customer service for rentals was awful. When we first arrived, they didn’t have snowboard boots in my size or my boyfriends size (no, we don’t have weird sized feet). Even though we had paid for our rentals online and indicated our shoe size, we had to wait 3 hours to get my boots - my boyfriend never got his before we ended up leaving and going to Appalachian Ski Resort (10/10 recommend). One girl running the boot rentals even mocked me when I asked for a different pair of boots because the pair I had finally been given had a broken lace and couldn’t be tied properly. Overall, I think Beech is an okay place to go if you are bringing your own equipment. If you’re renting, it’s not worth it. There’s no guarantee that you will be able to get rentals and the quality of the equipment leaves a lot to be desired.

I bought my tickets on line the day before. We were there at 10.00am you could not park at Beech mountain. So we had to go in town the lots were full. Had to find a place to park waited 1.30 minutes in line for bus to take us to the ski resort. And that is as far as we got at 1:30 . We were still in line for bus. We left money down the drain. Not a happy personal .This was my gift from me to my family.

Do NOT go to this place. Absolutely worst experience of our families life. My family decided to take our kids skiing for the first time and the first time they tried to go on a ski lift and it got stuck. My daughter was separated from my husband and son on the lift in front of her. The lift stopped working for close to 45 min. She was shivering and crying because she was so scared and there are no bars on the lift, was afraid she’d shiver so much that she’d fall. I do understand that these things happen but when we talked with customer service about how traumatic this was for our family they offered nothing in return. No refund, nothing. We only used the lift one time because the kids were so scared to go back on it. This is an awful place that run an awful business. Their customer service is the absolute worst I’ve encountered. We will never be back and I highly recommend you stay away.

The resort was operating with way more people than it had the structure to accommodate. I visited with my family (party of 6, including one small child).
Started with literally hours to be able to park the car. I ended up being able to park, after looking for a spot for hours, in place with a huge walking distance.
Then, when we went to purchase tickets, we found out snow tubing was sold out until 12/31/2023 (and we only learned about this when we got to ticket booth)
If we did not have ski equipment yet, it would take us more then 2 hours to rent some.
After entering the resort, the locker room was so full, you couldn’t get in or move around.
Then, when we finally were able to get in the snow area, it was so full you couldn’t move around.
When we finally made it to the play yard lift, it was terrible. The line was huge, and when you finally able to board the lift, the entrance is so tilt you can’t get in without taking your skis off, and with a high risk of falling and getting hurt. Then, to get off the lift, it also was so tilted, everyone was falling. The risk of getting hurt is inadmissible. We couldn’t take the risk of getting hurt, and did not try to go. And if you made it to the top of the lift, you couldn’t actually ski the small hill, because it was so full, you couldn’t go downhill (or could, if you hit a big bunch of people in one ride).
The lines to the other lifts were immense, and they were breaking all the time.
At this point, my daughter was crying, asking me to go back home. We left, after many hours of a miserable time, without being able to use anything.
When I went to administration to ask for a refund of the $320 I paid for my family (because I really wasn't able to actually use anything), the supervisor almost laughed at me, she was SUPER rude and said tickets are non-refundable, and that they were providing everything that was promised.
I will never have my time back. Please don't waste yours.

We have been to Beech Mountain many years and this trip sealed the deal for us. Over booked and you can tell it’s all about just taking your money. Someone in our group waited 2 1/2 hours for rentals which was never told to us at ticket sales that this was the case and finally gave up and left. He went to check on refund and girl laughed at him and said hate it for you. All employees we dealt with were rude and not helpful at all. After 4 hours there we were able to get 2 runs down the mountain. Don’t waste your money with this place!!

We went for family ski trip. The snow was slushy but in fairness the temp was higher than normal and it had just rained. But the worst part was the crowds…you couldn’t go down the bunny hill for all the people sitting around and all of your time was spent waiting in line for the lifts. I tried to get a lesson but the line was so long that they ran out of spots before I got there. They absolutely should start booking lessons online. But I want to give a huge shout out to the instructor Martin who recognized me from the group lesson the day before and stayed late to teach me some skills. That experience was what made my trip.
We won’t be back to Beech mountain because of the disorganization and the crowds but the area itself was nice and I’m sure that the slopes are good if they have adequate snow.
Long story short it’s probably worth a visit if the weather is cold and it’s not at peak season.

Absolutely horrible way to many bee boppers running around wrecking people and cutting in line. Just beyond unacceptable it was straight chaos! Will not be coming back ever

I have been 7 years but will never come back. Have been in line for over an hour waiting to get skis I already paid for online. There is a much shorter line for people that have not paid. Lines for lifts are horrible as well.

I have an Airbnb booked for December 27-29 we plan on spending the 28th that Tuesday at beech. I’m sure it’s going to be fairly busy. When should I buy the tickets and where should I get the ski rentals
Should we book lift tickets and equipment rental ahead of time? Or rather wait until we get there and weather is OK? Going mid Jan

You run a huge risk, if you wait, of not being able to get tickets. The slopes were booked up (sold out) 2-3 days in advance. You are best to get equipment from off the slope. And, once you order, your best bet is to pick your tickets up the evening before.
We are planning on skiing February 23 & 24. What should we expect for wait times to get on the lifts? Thanks

Wait times weren't that bad even with the weekend crowds when we went. They had 2 lifts (quad and a triple) open to get skiers to the top.

Yes . We have a sledding hill and one night a yule log. There is also Christmas cookies and hot chocolate and Christmas carolers
