The Spinners’ third studio album, SPINNERS, marked the beginning of the ‘Philadelphia Sound’ with anthemic tracks, “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “One of a Kind (Love Affair),” and “How Could I Let You Get Away.” The album peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and spent three weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

The Gordon Lightfoot Blu-ray is now available for pre-order from Amazon, and the prices for the America and Spinners titles have been reduced by $4 each.

I was checking out the Spinners and America quadios and noticed someone (it looks like from Rhino) has already posted that some of the Spinners discs are defective. Rhino must have laid off all of the quality control people. (Is I'll Be Around on that Spinners CD? I wanted to get the Quadio just for that, but I don't feel like going around & around with a defective disc again after the Joni Mitchell debacle.)


Here is what the person wrote for a review. I am assuming the reviewer is a Rhino employee? (This is how he knows some are defective, before the release date, which he says now will be the 15th?)

One of my friends ordered this product. There's a sound issue with one of the channels. They are re-releasing this on Dec 15th with the issue corrected.

Can you check if your copy is defective? Only some of the Spinners Quadio were defective and we can only replace defective CDs. If it is defective, please provide a photo and short video of the CD for our records.

I bought the previous Quadio releases a year ago but held out for these because they aren’t favorite albums, glad I did. Might revisit them at the end of December.

The Mingus disc has now also dropped by $4.

Provide a video? That's a ridiculous ask if they know that they have defective product out there (even if it's only some).

I listen to music exclusively through headphones these days. So I'm supposed to find the defective bit, and try to mess with the player's remote to get it synched up, and then get it rolling and stick the phone's mic up to whichever channel on the headphones to record it?

Bad Blu-rays and 4Ks have flooded the market recently. It's about time these companies get their QC divisions in order, and if it continues to be a problem, then they should figure out what is wrong in the manufacturing process and find individuals or plants that can do the job right.

Amen to that. It is ridiculous for a consumer to have to go through providing a video for proof of their lack of quality control. That is why I haven't purchased the latest Joni Mitchell archive, the America and Spinners quadios. I'm not up to chasing after a defective disc for about a year.

The general release date for the Spinners disc is now tomorrow, (Friday, January 5, 2024). "Supposedly", this is the corrected version and will be safe to order:

The other three Quadio titles in this round came out as scheduled on December 8th.

Will these play in stereo on a standard Blu-Ray player?

I believe so, particularly the stereo mixes.
