A pretty moving albeit by the numbers examination of Clint Eastwood’s incredible career. Anyone familiar with his work has most likely seen most of the interviews in previous behind-the-scenes documentaries, but there’s something to how director Gary Leva has assembled such an array of talent to speak on these films.
There is no doubt in my mind that Clint Eastwood is the most accomplished filmmaker of our time.
Very enjoyable documentary. Doesn’t go into any of Clint’s life prior to getting into movies, but as a retrospective on his career it’s pretty great. Could watch Scorsese and Spielberg talk about movies all day. Not a ton of Arnold but great to hear him talk about seeing Dirty Harry 5 times in theaters in its first week.

Say what you will about Clint, his career is something else. I recommend this doc to anybody who just loves movies. Didn’t want it to end. Almost as good as the Spielberg doc. Has solid talking heads as well.

CLINT EASTWOOD: A CINEMATIC LEGACY is an entertaining documentary but if you've seen previous movies on the legend then it's doubtful you're going to learn anything new. The documentary is broken into nine parts with the first portion taking a look at more recent films like AMERICAN SNIPER, CRY MACHO, 15:17 TO PARIS and SULLY. The later portions of the documentary breaks off into films like BLOOD WORK, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY and THE OUTLAW…
Ben Mankowitz was going to show us Where Eagles Dare tonight, but being the cheeky-sneaky person he is he put this Clint love-fest before the film. Makes me for excited for Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, even more excitement was from Ryan's Heroes than Where Eagles Dare. Television is cancer.
