Decent Experience, Great Food

Having driven in on a lengthy road trip, we were unaware that reservations are a good idea. Two young hostesses lacking mature communication skills said the only option was to sit in the "party room". We almost left, but decided to check it out. It lacked the intimate atmosphere and pleasant mood lighting of the main dining area, but wasn't all that bad. Not sure why they don't make slight adjustments to the lighting and furniture placement to make this room as pleasant as the main restaurant. Our server was young but very mature, articulate and professional. Our large salads were fresh and delicious, and the salmon spectacular. Happy hour beer specials were good. It was odd to be asked if we wanted a glass for the beer. Serving it in a can wouldn't exactly class up the place.... why not just bring it in a glass. Pre-dinner bread with olive oil and balsamic was very good.

This so-called Italian restaurant could not produce an edible plate of cheese ravioli. The pasta was mushy, like it had been frozen, the filling was flavorless, tomato sauce tasted straight from a can, and the whole mess was weirdly smothered in melted cheese--not cheese sauce, just ...cheese. Major whiff on the most basic stuff. So disappointing. Seriously, go to Biaggi's instead.

Go, but Make a Reservation

I do want to say first off that I recommend you make a reservation. I was glad to arrive without a reservation and be able to sit at the bar. While very busy, things were not frenetic even as the ones behind the bar were busy mixing drinks and working very well together. I had a cocktail and a lovely meal. I can see why they were so busy on a Friday night. Go!

Good Home Cooking

This was our 2nd visit to Spezia and it did not disappoint. We did not have reservation in July nor in September but I am told as winter sets in you should have a reservation. The service is outstanding, understanding of the menu amazing, staff very professional, hat goes off to the person who taught the service team they are polite! We have tried the spicy fried calamari with the roasted red and banana peppers very good (fried but it's still a light feel). The mediterranean chicken salad is enough for 2 and that chicken is very savory, the seafood diavolo so many different taste buds came alive (a must). Being from Texas we always like to have some form of meat at dinner and the Garlic herb tenderloin was amazing. We tried the different flatbreads but our favorite was the Italian sausage roasted one. Plan to return in November and we will stop here again for sure

Incredible food and service

Everything was incredible. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the pasta was great. We were able to make substitutes for our meal since I don't like onions, which was just icing on the cake. Our waiter, Ben, made the whole experience so much better, too. He was very personable and fun to talk to. Overall, it was one of the best eating experiences we had on this trip, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Cool, quiet and private inside on a hot summer day with an inviting, pleasant atmosphere to just chill out and enjoy a good meal with good comany. Great Italian food! Nice unhurried experince with a friendly, attentive and capable server who was seemingly always there when she was needed. THe experience created a enjoyable birthday memory

Good service, nice food

Went in to this restaurant for dinner, partly based on recommendation from and partly on raving recommendations online. Service was very good and I also enjoyed the choice of food I made. I will definitely go back anytime I am back in town.

Better than Italy

We have been to this restaurant many times since it started up where La Scala 72 used to be. Right from the start it has been our favorite restaurant in Omaha. While they completely refurbished the site creating a warm atmosphere, they also added outstanding service and food. As soon as we sat down our server introduced himself and handed us fresh warm bread rolls and iced water (which was obviously not the cruddy tasting tap water of Omaha). The meal that followed was outstanding and great value for money. I had the duck which was crispy but succulent and actually an improvement on the last time I chose it. We have toured Italy, where we enjoyed numerous great restaurants, but frankly did not find a restaurant we enjoyed as much as Spezia.

Sumptuous Everything

Every aspect of our meal was outstanding. I had a chicken asparagus pasta dish in cream sauce. My husband had chicken piccata. The Riesling was superb, coffee was delicious and the spumoni was over the top great with a chocolate sauce drizzle. Service and ambiance was wonderful. Best meal we’ve had in a very long time.

Delightful Meal

Delightful Meal We wanted Italian, and Spezia had good reviews, we were not disappointed. Our server was great, Our meals were all delectable, very generous servings. We recommend giving this a try!

It's not Italy, but very good for Omaha

After reading the reviews of Spezia, we really looked forward to dinner after a long drive from Chicago. While I wasn't expecting a dinner like those I've had in Italy, I was expecting something like the North End of Boston. It didn't quite match that either, but this is still a very good restaurant. We had the chicken parm. It was deep fried and resembled a fast food dinner. That being said, the calamari was delicious and the wine we ordered was featured, Old Soul Red. The wine was great and not marked up that much. The service was outstanding and I will go back - just not for chicken parm.

Lunch take out order was fantastic

We ordered for a working lunch. I had the seared ahi tuna salad and it was very well prepared and excellent quality. I can't wait to try more of the menu soon for dinner.

Very good Italian food

The restaurant has a nice patio dining area, enclosed with a high brick wall. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. They had a good wine selection by the glass. They offer a great bread dip of balsamic/Parmesan prepared by waitperson. We had the Caprese salad which was very good. The pasta Bolognese with sausage was also very good.
