Sikandar continued, “Most of the time he spent studying abroad. He was first studying in Switzerland, then in Boston. We reconnected when he returned. We would spend a lot of time together. What can I say about his contribution? He’s just a phone call away. Also, he lives in Juhu, so he’s just a hop and a skip away. I love him, and he loves me, and I can say that. What greater thing is there than for me to tell you that he loves me? We can rarely say that about people, not even parents sometimes. I can’t define his contribution in my life.”

Abhishek often refers to Sikandar as his younger brother. It was Gautam Berry who encouraged Abhishek to learn the ropes as an assistant on a film set. He said in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, “I was literally a runner. I used to make tea on set. My dear friend Sikandar, his father Gautam Berry became the CEO, and he said to me, ‘Get on set, and start making tea’. I said why? He said, ‘Start controlling the amount of sugar they use because the sugar bill is really high’. These are the kind of small things (you learn), and I went up from there, I became an AD…”

Sikandar had revealed in an earlier interview that he’d actually inherited Abhishek’s crib. “My baby crib was the same one that Abhishek and his sister Shweta and then two children of Bunty uncle had used. After them, it was handed over to me. That’s how close we’ve been. So I’ve even ‘cribbed’ with the Bachchan kids,” he told Mumbai Mirror in 2008.
